I had an exam, X-rays, and a cleaning at Advanta Dental, which was an awful experience and expensive trial. During the exam, Dr. Boyack came across as flippant and dismissive, which didn’t give me confidence in the care I was receiving.
The cleaning later that day was performed in a rough and unskilled manner. I was uncomfortable throughout the appointment and ended up with pain that lasted for weeks. After I expressed my concerns, the staff didn't seemed surprised.
The next day I was told the cost of the cleaning would be credited to my next visit. When I later decided not to return to the practice due to their inability to give pertinent information and offer timely services, I requested the refund that had been offered and the office refused to issue it. Communicating with the practice to resolve the matter was consistently difficult.
They will also tell you that you need to pay them $150 to be evaluated before they can refer you to a specialist. First, you can refer yourself to a specialist and second, this office caused the pain that I needed to be referred for, so that was completely unreasonable. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice. In fact, don’t walk, RUN from this office!

I had a terrible experience with Dr Ruder. During my appointment, which was a cavity filling, he was talking to the dental assistant during my whole appointment as if they were at a cocktail party. Discussing their lives, families, food. Just chatting away while drilling in my teeth. Talk of food was especially off putting while he was grinding and drilling in my mouth. I was worried during the appointment that something was going to go wrong b/c they weren't paying attention...and it did. The filling was done poorly and had to be removed and redone by the other dentist. So I had to go through all of it again due to his faulty work. Terrible experience and he never apologized to me. I would NOT reccomend this doctor to anyone ever.

I had a loose crown on an implant last fall, I called around to several dental clinics in PA and Sequim and unfortunately none were taking new patients at the time. Lucky before giving up, I called a dental clinic in Sequim and although they were not taking new patients, they recommended giving Advanta (which was right next door to them) a call and checking to see if they would take a new patient.
So, hoping for the best/expecting the worst, I called Advanta and luckily they were able to schedule a visit for me within a couple of days to look at my loose crown. Day of arrival, I filled out my necessary paper work and spoke with Dr. Ruder. I was worried about this crown since it was on an implant and it was placed back in 2006-7 which back then crowns on implants didn't have an access screw hole (pre-drilled) to make adjustments for loose crowns easier to work on in the future. I thought like my other crowns placed at that time I would have to just get it drilled out and then re-made and put back in, at cost.
However, after speaking with Dr. Ruder and having him look at it, he was actually willing to drill an access hole through the top of the crown trying to save it for me rather than cutting it off and getting a new one made with another abutment. This was wonderful of him to give it a shot since it was not promised to work and could end up ruining the crown, but I was already looking at another crown/abutment anyways so if this worked then it would save me over $2000 dollars.
After a few visits of drilling into the crown and trying to find the correct angle of orientation for the screw head it worked and he was able to tighten the screw on my loose crown back to spec. I’m very happy that Dr. Ruder was so willing to work on my crown and thus saving me cost out of pocket for a new set of crown/abutment. Thank you Dr. Ruder for your pleasant bedside manner and hard work. Special thanks to all the Advanta team for being able to fit me in on such short notice and a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend Dr. Ruder and Advanta from my experience.

Dr Pocock and his staff are the best I've ever found! I'm so afraid of getting my teeth worked on. They are very considerate of that and have done their best to make me comfortable...and they did it! The person who cleans my teeth does an awesome job with up to date tools. He cleans each tooth carefully and beautifully. The fillings the doctor does match perfectly and are done with little to no pain :) The receptionist finds appointments that are "as soon as needed" depending on the work that needs to be done. She's even got me in the next day! I absolutely love this dental office!

Advanta Dental is always a pleasant experience from the moment you walk in the door to meet Julie till you leave. The doctors, assistants and other staff are all pleasant and professional. Glad we switched to them.
