I had my molar tooth removed late last year and an implant placed earlier this year. Before the surgeries, Dr Mintzer conducted a thorough examination, clearly explained each step, and patiently answered all our questions and concerns. Both surgeries went smoothly. His assistant Amanda was very kind and helped calm me down when I was nervous during the procedure. Dr Mintzer even called me personally afterwards to make sure I was okay. My implant has been working perfectly ever since. I highly recommend Dr Mintzer and his team for their professionalism, care and genuine kindness.

The new normal is strange for sure but all at Doc Mintzers office are great. They are only seeing one patient at a time and are going to great lengths to ensure everyone stays well. It was one of the best experiences i have had in the dentist chair. Doc Mintzer did the cleaning himself. I usually white knuckle any dental procedure due to my tooth sensitivity but it was pain free and I'm pretty sure it was a deep clean. He is the best!

Dr. Mintzer is very good at listening to my concerns and being kind and helpful while providing professional care. When he worked on my teeth, he was gentle and caused me no discomfort whatsoever. He was very concerned with my well being and that was quite refreshing. Despite the fact that my gums were cut apart and later stitched back together (and my tooth was also drilled a lot), I had minimal pain from the procedure. It went way better than I expected. Dr. Mintzer even called me 6 hours after the procedure to check on how I was doing. Easy to handle procedure and a great periodontist! I highly recommend him. He is the most caring dentist/periodontist I've ever met.

Dr. Mintzer and his staff are the best in the world! I flew all of the way from Hawaii to Santa Barbara just to be able to continue to have my dental work done where I knew I'd be in the hands of exceedingly competent, caring and professional individuals -- who are also very patient with my dental anxiety! I highly recommend Dr. Mintzer and his staff and won't ever go anywhere else!

Alamar Dental Implant Center is the Santa Barbara office of Dr. Roy E. Mintzer, a board certified specialist in periodontics and dental implants. Located at 2780 State Street, Suite 3, on upper State Street in Santa Barbara, the practice focuses on replacing missing or failing teeth with dental implants, offering computer assisted implant evaluation, computer guided implant placement, and service and repair for existing implants. The practice traces its history to 1955 and describes itself as the longest continuously operating periodontal and implant specialty practice in Santa Barbara County.
Beyond implant surgery, the office provides comprehensive care for the gums and jaw, including dental and periodontal exams, cleanings, two dimensional and three dimensional X-rays for both teeth and implants, gum grafting, bone grafting and sinus augmentation, crown lengthening, scaling and root planing, oral cancer exams, and treatment of failed root canals and cracked teeth. Meet the Doctors
Dr. Roy E. Mintzer, DDS is a board certified specialist in periodontics and dental implants, and the practice notes he is one of only two board certified specialists in this field practicing in Santa Barbara County. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California San Francisco and completed a three year residency in advanced periodontology at the University of Southern California, where about half of his training focused on the diagnosis and placement of dental implants. He served for 13 years as clinical assistant professor and adjunct faculty at the University of Southern California, teaching treatment planning and surgery to periodontal residents, and he is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Dental Association, and the California Dental Association.
