Imagine being told you were an entire YEAR early for your appointment. This isn't a joke or a hypothetical, this is the actual experience I had at Alcona Dental.
When I called in late 2025, I asked if they were taking new patients, that I hoped to be seen soon. The woman on the phone said they were. "I don't have any appointments in January, but I can get you in February?" Not that long of a wait, so I said "That'll work fine." Come February, I show up and give my name, but the receptionist can't find my appointment.
It is then, dear reader, she looks at me to say, "Um, actually, your appointment is NEXT year." I first thought she was making a joke, the kind you fake a polite laugh for, but her face was blank. She said nothing and my next thought was why she wasn't offering me any explanations or solutions to this petty clerical error. I thought, clearly we are having quite the misunderstanding. Only after the office manager came to echo her same reply and same blank expression it became clear: they had ACTUALLY scheduled me for February 2027. 14 months from the time of my call, and at no time did anyone think it prudent to mention the YEAR of my appointment to me.
Truly though, the worst thing of the wasn't the waste of 2 months and an afternoon, but the apathy from every individual involved. The apathy of the woman on the phone, ignoring any semblance of reason that I may not consider an appointment an extra year away to be "soon". The apathy of the receptionist, who looked at me as if to say it was MY stupid mistake, that my frustration was unfounded. Most egregiously, the apathy of the office manager who sought to try and normalize a 14 month wait for something as routine as a dental check-up.
People deserve better care than this. You, reader, deserve better care than this. Wherever you seek dental care, do yourself a favor and seek it elsewhere.

First of all, Corey is amazing. People overuse that word, but she honestly is. I tried getting a walk in appointment here four or five times and she answered the phone each time with humor and positive energy every morning at 7am sharp. Word to the wise, be patient, there are a lot of people trying to get in everywhere. Kindness goes a long way. I tried a dozen places and NO ONE is taking new patients in the immediate area. I believe this is the only office taking walk-ins in Alpena. Elisha and doctor Broers were both very kind and professional once I got in. I hope to become a patient here eventually 馃. I appreciate all you guys.

The people are nice and the fillings i got there were good, just wish my dentist didn't tell me to call back here when I needed to get my wisdom tooth removed only to find out they can't do it here. would probably be helpful telling people that instead of wasting half a month of time I could have spent looking somewhere else now I have to wait even longer. When I did call them they said "they could send a referral" I had said "Ok" and then didnt say anything for a minute straight.

Every time I have gone to Alcona Health Center Dental in Alpena, they have been very professional, respectful, and have met my expectations of cleaning, inspections.
As for repair work; I haven't needed any yet, so I can't report on that.
I greatly recommend their service to any one needing dental treatment.

I just had my cleaning check up and it was very pleasant. My hygienist was exceptional! Explained every step she was doing. She was able to answer all my questions and gave me some options to some issues I was having. The dentist then came in to review my X-rays and talk to me. She was also very thorough with me. I had a very good experience.
