Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience with Dr Doolin firsthand and also with billing. First things first, I was told me and my daughter were fully covered and so I had an emergency tooth extraction and my daughter had a cleaning. Dr Doolin spent the whole time lecturing me and said some extremely offensive things. I am very young, I had pancreatic cancer and was diagnosed with a digestive disease which made me sick frequently. My tooth enamel was destroyed from that. I explained to Dr Doolin that my teeth had declined since these problems. (I actually didn’t have one cavity my whole life until these health problems.) He told me “Everyone has cancer.” Like WHAT!? And then lectured me about sugar intake, basically telling me I had a poor diet and it was my fault my teeth were so bad. I’m fit and eat healthy because of my dietary restrictions. The tumor I had did NOT grow from eating too much sugar, nor did my teeth decline from eating too much sugar. I was honestly mortified that someone could be lacking any sort of awareness or compassion. Everyone has cancer?? Yes everyone has cancer cells floating around but it’s extremely rare and absolutely terrifying for a 27 year old mom to be diagnosed with one of the most deadly cancers. I had to write my will because there was a 50/50 chance I would not survive my surgery. Clearly Dr Doolin does not have the life experience to even speak on any of this and I find this behavior extremely harmful. I would like him to know this. Over four months later: even with the terrible experience I had, I scheduled a follow up. They call me the day before my appointment and say they have to cancel on me because they don’t take my insurance now? And then shortly after I receive a bill for 800 dollars for my tooth extraction and my daughter’s cleaning…so apparently they “switched computer systems” and a receptionist claimed it was an error and basically their fault. I called back after talking to my insurance and my insurance said they didn’t even put in a claim for any of the dental work. My insurance asked if I could request the dentist to refile the claim. So I called back, and talked to a different receptionist who was completely defensive on the issue and said it was my fault and I should’ve verified first with my insurance before being seen, even though they said I was good to go. She refused to file the claim saying that they already filed it twice and couldn’t try again. Clearly they didn’t put in a claim and tried to cover their tracks? The dental work was very necessary and an emergency because I was pregnant so my insurance said they still would’ve covered. I then asked them to send me an invoice with all the work done, since the bill they sent had both my daughters work and mine combined, and there was no explanation of charges. My insurance said they needed the details to file the claim by themselves. The receptionist said she could email me an “e-bill “ and then never emailed it. I called again, and same statement, no email. They said they couldn’t print something for me in the office. I feel like they just didn’t want me to come in and bring attention to their mistakes in front of patients. To make matters worse, a couple months later, I get a letter from Dr Doolin saying he is terminating our “doctor-patient relationship” because I had “canceled too many appointments.” Like excuse me? They canceled on me because of their mistake! I just can’t believe how disappointing this whole experience has been.

They were so incredible! My son had an unfortunate sledding accident with a rock and I called and they were able to get us in immediately and fix the problem. They were so compassionate and kind to him and me! I was blown away. My only regret is this isn’t our primary dentist! I can’t recommend them Enough!!

Review of Dental Visit: I am writing this as a business practice review rather than a critique of the clinical care, as the cleaning itself was fine. However, I was extremely disappointed by the lack of transparency and the misinformation provided by the staff. Prior to my appointment, I sent an email requesting the cost of a cleaning and explicitly asked to skip X-rays. I was quoted $115, but my request regarding X-rays was ignored. Upon arrival, I was immediately pressured into getting X-rays, with multiple staff members and the dentist repeatedly claiming that state law required them. To be clear, while there are guidelines for diagnostic frequency, there is no statutory law in New Mexico requiring x-rays. Presenting something as a law versus "we prefer x-rays and can refuse service at our business based on this preference" are two very different things. The situation was further complicated by the following: **Hidden Fees:** When I emailed in advance, with very fee specific questions, I was not informed that X-rays would add an extra $150 (ish) or that the dentist's exam would be an additional $125 (ish) until I went to pay for the visit while waiting to see the dentist. **Refusal to Coordinate:** Despite mentioningin the email I had recent X-rays elsewhere, no one asked to have them sent over as an alternative. **Poor Communication:** The dentist/desk people refused to acknowledge my initial email or address the pricing discrepancy. **Unprofessional Conclusion:** The visit ended with an ultimatum to either pay $390 (ish) or pay the original quote and never return. It was embarrassing to have to have this discussion with several desk people and the dentist while several feet away from a waiting room full of people. Within two days, I also received a letter falsely claiming I was being dismissed for "cancellations," despite having attended all my scheduled appointments. In conclusion, it is okay for a patient to ask questions about their care and the associated costs and get solid answers when paying out of pocket for visits. I value integrity in small businesses, and unfortunately, the "bait and switch" pricing and dishonesty regarding state regulations make it impossible for me to recommend this practice.

The staff, the dentist , everyone here is amazing . They are kind and genuine. They are upfront and diligent. They changed the way I felt about going to the dentist. I found my forever place to care for my teeth. I cannot say it enough, I would give 100 stars if I could. A 10/10 experience and all fears gone ! Thank you all so very much for your hard work.

Very impressed and happy with the care provided. I needed to get a permanent retainer fixed while here for the summer (my regular dentist is back in TX), and they were able to address the issue quickly and professionally. Their communication was great, the staff and dentist were friendly, and most importantly, the issue was addressed.
