My family has been going here for over 15 years. Dr. Todd has always done excellent work, is very professional, and is honest and easy to work with. He was also one of the only dentists excepting military insurance for many years, which is very much appreciated since he could make more money through private pay and other insurance companies.

I was so impressed with this dental facility I’ll continue to go here as the Dentist was excellent and this place being in Battle Lake didn’t charge an arm and a leg ! I’m going to keep going here ! They are all so kind and caring here ! I made the appointment on yesterday and had my appointment today ! Dr Todd and his staff are awesome

I have been a patient here for most of my life, receiving both routine and emergency service. And I have always received superior service and care. Staff are professional and talented, while always being so friendly.

I noticed on their website they state they take emergency visits, I called their office today and was told they do not offer any emergency visits or after hour visits and they are booking 3 wks out. I wish they would update their website to reflect that.

About Area Lakes Dental

Area Lakes Dental is a family dental practice at 412 Lake Avenue South in Battle Lake, Minnesota, serving patients in the West Central Minnesota lakes area since 1996. Meet the Doctors

Dr. Todd S. Smith, DDS, leads Area Lakes Dental. He was born and raised in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area, earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota, and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1985. After practicing in the Twin Cities for two years and at Elbow Lake Dental Center for nine years, he opened Area Lakes Dental in Battle Lake in January 1996. Dr. Smith has been a member of the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, and the West Central District Dental Society, and is a long time member of the Heartland Study Club, where he received its award for Clinical Excellence in 2006 and 2007. He continues his education through dental continuing education seminars, The Dawson Academy for the Advancement of Dentistry, and the Zimmer Biomet Institute. He is supported by Paula, a registered dental hygienist, Terri, a dental assistant, and Jill, the office manager.
