I was referred to Dr. Patel’s office by my dental provider for a wisdom tooth extraction and came prepared with my own panoramic X-ray. From the very beginning, the consultation was shockingly unprofessional. Dr. Patel entered the room with a hostile attitude, barely acknowledged me, and performed no actual examination — only a quick glance at my X-ray. She answered questions reluctantly, rolled her eyes, and made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome the entire time. Her appearance was also concerning and inappropriate for a surgical setting — no gown or mask, long hair uncovered, and clothing that looked like pajamas. It did not feel like a professional medical environment. Despite this, I scheduled the extraction because I was in significant pain. That’s when the billing issues began. I was presented with a $150 “materials charge” on my treatment plan with no insurance code and no itemization, supposedly covering “everything on the tray” during surgery. The staff refused to explain what this included. I have never encountered a dental office charging separately for unspecified surgical materials — it felt arbitrary and unjustified. It had dental code 000, which, obviously, is not covered by any insurance. So, just total scam. Then I was told I had to pay half of the total cost upfront just to keep the appointment date, a policy that had never been disclosed when scheduling. This is not standard practice and should have been communicated clearly beforehand. When I calmly asked the doctor for clarification, she became aggressive and confrontational, stating it was “not her problem” and “not her obligation” to explain charges or policies. She spoke to me in an openly hostile manner, suggested I go elsewhere, and refused to refund the consultation fee, which I later needed to fight for to get back. I left the office shaking, extremely distressed, and with my blood pressure elevated. Needless to say, I NEVER CAME BACK. To make matters worse, my insurance later informed me they were billed for an X-ray that was never taken — I had brought my own. I had to dispute the charge. This was, without question, the worst dental office experience I have ever had. I strongly recommend staying away from this practice.

I have bad dental anxiety, but Dr. Patel and the rest of the staff made me feel comfortable through the whole process of my wisdom teeth removal. They even worked with me and scheduled my appointment for a day they usually don’t do appointments to help get me in asap. I also highly recommend the PRF (I believe its called), I feel like it helped my recovery so much - I felt better by day 2 than I thought I would, and mostly back to normal after only about 8-10 days.

My daughter had PTSD from an anesthesia issue with a previous surgery and Dr. Patel worked with her to make her feel comfortable and safe. She treated my daughter with empathy and has a great bed-side manner (and even called her the day before). The staff are also kind and responsive. The surgery and recovery went well, and my daughter was all smiles at the follow-up appointment (and got to meet Dr. Patel's pet parrot!). Highly recommend using this practice.

I went in for a tooth extraction and it was one of the easiest dental experiences of my life. I suffer from extreme dental anxiety, and Dr. Patel and her staff put me completely at ease. They are all incredible and I am glad I found them. Many thanks to Dr. Patel and her entire team.

The main dentist is really sweet but all in all, the place is unprofessional. Never had an experience like this one. They have no billing department, just one woman that has no number, you’ll have to email her & she responds months later. The staff kept telling me she’s a flight attendant that works part-time which is crazy lol. The billing department is supposed to be available for you, especially when so much money is involved. It took me 6 months to get an issue resolved. The billing woman, Kendall, decided to not send my insurance all of the codes they charged for my procedure but instead try to charge me for two of them. She just assumed my insurance wouldn’t pay for them. It was wild! Why wouldn’t you send the full estimate to my insurance so that they could send me what my out of pocket expense is? Yes, it took 6 months for me to get my refund. Even had to get my insurance to send a complaint. Also, when you call the office, the front desk cannot answer ANY of your questions. They just tell you to write an email. Very unknowledgeable and unhelpful. They don’t even call you back when you request one. I really hope they fix this. For them to want their money up front, they need to have up front professionalism.

About Arlington Dental Implant & Oral Surgery Center

Arlington Dental Implant & Oral Surgery Center is an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice located at 3801 Fairfax Drive, Suite 20, in Arlington, Virginia, with a sister office, Waterfront Dental Implant & Oral Surgery Center, in Washington, DC. The practice offers a full range of dental implant procedures, including single tooth replacement, options for patients missing all of their upper or lower teeth such as implant-supported and bar attachment dentures, and bone grafting procedures like sinus lifts, ridge augmentation, and socket preservation to prepare the jaw for implants. Other services include wisdom teeth removal, tooth extractions, corrective jaw surgery, treatment of facial injuries, oral pathology, sleep apnea surgery, and 3D imaging, along with nonsurgical facial rejuvenation treatments.

The practice describes its approach as surgical excellence combined with heartfelt care, and it works in tandem with each patient's general dentist. It notes that many of its patients arrive nervous or in pain, and its staff is trained to assist with intravenous sedation. The practice also uses Exparel, an injectable local anesthetic placed directly at the surgical site that provides pain relief lasting for days, as a non-opioid pain control option after surgery. The Arlington office is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and the practice serves patients from Arlington neighborhoods such as Ballston, Clarendon, and Rosslyn as well as Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, McLean, Tysons Corner, and the wider Washington, DC metro area. Cherry financing is accepted as an additional payment arrangement.
