We recently moved to the area and needed to find a new dentist. I was scheduled quickly and my first visit, exam, was thorough and everyone was so nice and professional. Dr. Reynolds, Joelle, and Shannon and all of the others were great! Their technology seems very current. I saw them again the next day for my cleaning and felt well taken care of. We look forward to being longtime patients.

Staff at local clinic was friendly and cordial. In talking with someone via phone a day or two before my appointment, I was led to believe that nitrous oxide ("laughing gas") or other general anesthetic would be available to me as I have a terrible gag reflex and severe dental anxiety. On the day of my appointment, I communicated to every employee I met that I have severe dental anxiety and a terrible gag reflex. Apparently that went in one ear and out the other as extensive work (which I do need but cannot afford) was discussed. My main reason for this visit was to get a bad tooth extracted which recently caused me excruciating pain. As steps toward getting that tooth extracted on this visit were taken, I learned that no nitrous oxide or other general anesthetic was available for patients at this site. This was an instant deal-killer for me. If your patient's comfort is not important enough to your practice to offer something as basic as nitrous oxide, I will go elsewhere. I do not understand why or how patient comfort can be of such low importance to so many dental practices. I felt as though I had been misled or "bait and switched". I canceled further work at Aspen. As with another dental office over a year ago, I felt that I was viewed not as a person with real concerns about pain and comfort, but as an ATM/cash register for the corporation. "Ka-ching"! From reading other comments with low ratings on here, I expect to get the same canned response from "the owner", but do not expect changes as a result of my post.

I cannot give enough stars for Dr. Himel and her staff. I have put off a lot of dental work that was needed and embarrassed by my smile. Everyone at the office treated me so well and I did not feel embarrassed; they just provided me with solutions. They were caring and understanding and every time I was in the office, and it was a lot, I received the same great service. I was not the easiest patient. I was terrified in the chair, and they talked me through it and did it at my pace. They let me be a bit dramatic at times but were always understanding. I have found that going to the dentist is not a bad thing! I now have a beautiful smile and cannot be happier with it! Thanks! Allison Lincks

My wife scheduled an exam with Aspen Dental and waited two months just to be seen. After the exam, they told her she needed to come back for a cleaning, which was another two-week wait. Fine. Annoying, but we dealt with it. The day before her cleaning appointment, Aspen Dental called to “confirm.” My wife works full-time and cannot take phone calls during the day. She missed the call, then called back during her lunch break, during Aspen Dental’s own business hours. No one answered. She left a voicemail clearly stating she was calling to confirm her appointment. The next day, she showed up for her scheduled cleaning, only to be told she didn’t have an appointment anymore. Apparently, missing one confirmation call even after returning it and leaving a voicemail means your appointment is just canceled without notice. No email. No text. No follow-up. Nothing. To make it worse, they then told her the next available appointment was 2.5 MONTHS OUT. This is beyond poor communication. This is a complete lack of respect for people’s time, especially working adults who schedule weeks or months in advance. If your system is so fragile that missing one phone call voids an appointment, then your system is broken. We rearranged work schedules, waited months, followed up responsibly, and still got punished for Aspen Dental’s failure to answer their own phone. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere that actually values patients and understands how real life works.

I cannot say enough good things about the Aspen Dental office in Camden, South Carolina. I came in needing a lot done — extractions, alveoloplasty, tori removal, implants, and immediate full dentures — and I was honestly terrified going into it. I had built it up in my head and was expecting the worst. From the moment I walked in, the team made me feel safe and taken care of, but Shavonna (dental assistant) and Dr. Himel truly stood out. Shavonna was calm, kind, and reassuring the entire time. She explained what was happening in a way that didn’t overwhelm me, checked on me constantly, and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. She has that rare ability to make you feel like you’re not “just another patient.” And Dr. Himel — wow.. She took my nerves seriously, never rushed me, and made sure I understood the plan. The procedure itself went so much smoother than I ever imagined. Everything was handled with so much professionalism, and I felt like I was in the best hands possible. The best part? I walked out feeling relieved — and actually excited about what’s next. For the first time in a long time, I feel hopeful about my smile. If you’re nervous like I was, please know this team will take care of you with patience and compassion.
