Doc was so present and bubbly. Staff, so patient and kind. Very unexpected day for me, and I鈥檓 sensitive, so to have this kind of great care was also rather unexpected! This is a good enegy office, folks. Grateful. 馃挌 Dental care (can?) be scary and expensive. Lots of care and patience here to counter any of that. Highly recommend. 馃挏

Very thankful to everyone at Aspen - Dekalb! I was a little nervous after not having gone to the dentist in 3+ years but they made me feel so comfortable with my treatment. They explained everything so clearly and were up front about every cost. Will definitely be going back!

I鈥檝e always received great service here. The staff is amazing! Kaylee is a good spirit and was very helpful guiding me through financial concerns. I had cavities treated today, and Vanessa, the dental assistant was one of best assistants I鈥檝e interacted with! She was very kind and attentive, making sure I was comfortable the entire time. Thanks Aspen Dental!

My first time to Aspen Dental was extremely disappointing. I was in the offices because I have had terrible tooth ache for several days and this dentist was covered under our insurance. I made appointment for Monday and was looking forward to getting the tooth taken care of. After 3 hours of waiting in very cold offices getting X-rays, the dentist would not pull the tooth that was causing pain, unless I agreed to have her pull 2 additional teeth pulled and deep cleaning/scaling. I shared with the dentist that I was on disability from work and really needed to focus on the single tooth that was causing pain. The original quote was for nearly 6k after insurance, I was being pushed into everything from additional crowns to pulling teeth that were not urgent. The lowest after insurance was $1400, which was still much more than I could afford. My husband feeling sorry for me having to deal with that pain went ahead and initially agreed to pay the 1400 to pull 3 teeth and get scaling/deep cleaning. Knowing this was outrageous pricing even after dental insurance discounts and coverages, we reached out to our favorite dentist (not currently covered by our dental insurance) and asked what he would charge for the sore tooth to be pulled. He charged 350 out of pocket and that included X-rays. And was able to add me to the schedule the very next day. It took just under 2 hrs for the full visit including X-rays. Please don鈥檛 trust what aspen dental quotes, I certainly did not feel aspen dental had my best interests in mind, and be careful because their pricing also included treatments that were 6 months in the future (falling into the future year).

I made an appointment and then Isabelle Austriaco called me to go over some information. She kept saying I couldn't get my teeth cleaned the day I came because a shortage of staff. She was extremely RUDE! I gave her the information and came in for the appointment. The desk and doctor were polite. I had to wait after the evaluation and then was escorted into to Iasabelle's office. who more or less hustled me for $2000 upfront. I was like what exactly was I paying for in advance if I couldn't get any treatment? In all my years, of attending a dentist or doctor, fostering care in a relationship here was not part of the deal. I later called and she was rude again, and as I asked some information. So I decided to look them up and they have TERRIBLE REVIEWS! why would anybody go there? Are they mafia owned?

About Aspen Dental - Dekalb

Aspen Dental in DeKalb, Illinois is located at 2061 Sycamore Road, in the same shopping plaza as the Walmart Supercenter near the Greenwood Acres Drive intersection, about a five minute drive from Northern Illinois University. The office serves patients from DeKalb, Sycamore, Cortland, Malta, Genoa, Waterman, and surrounding DeKalb County communities. The practice is independently owned and operated under Austriaco Dental Associates LLC, led by practice owner Dr. Jerome Austriaco, and offers preventive, restorative, cosmetic, and emergency dental care under one roof.

For patients considering tooth replacement, the DeKalb office lists dental implants, implant dentures, full and partial dentures, dental bridges, and dental crowns among its services, along with tooth extractions, wisdom tooth removal, root canals, fillings, cleanings, teeth whitening, oral surgery, and Motto clear aligners. The practice notes that not every office offers every service, so it is worth confirming implant availability directly with the DeKalb team. A first visit includes a comprehensive exam, any needed X-rays, and a written cost estimate before treatment begins. The office accepts most major dental insurance plans (Medicaid is not accepted), works with third-party lenders for financing, and is open Tuesday through Thursday from 7:00am to 5:00pm and Friday from 7:00am to noon, with same-day and walk-in appointments available when openings allow.

Meet the Doctors

The DeKalb office's dentist page names three doctors. Dr. Jerome B. Austriaco, DDS, is the practice owner and a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry; he has been with Aspen Dental since December 2011 and focuses on treating pain and infection and restoring proper function. Dr. Emanuel E. De La Fuente, DMD, also a University of Illinois College of Dentistry graduate, lists DeKalb as his current office and joined Aspen Dental in July 2025; his experience includes preventive care, restorative dentistry, endodontics, oral surgery, and dental prosthetics. Dr. Bilal Ibrahim, DDS, is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who earned his dental degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, completed a surgical internship at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and served as Chief Resident in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Detroit Medical Center; he works with Aspen Dental as an independent contractor.
