I have always struggled with feeling comfortable at the dentist, until I found this office. They made me feel safe and didn’t make fun of my fears or anxiety. I have had Rob has my hygienist and let me tell you, he is the best. Personable, funny, efficient then, teamed up with Dr. Saffner creates a winning combo. Thanks Apsen Dental- Newburgh!

Sarah was an excellent hygienist—professional, thorough, and attentive throughout the entire visit. She explained each step clearly, which made the experience comfortable and easy to follow. Her cleaning was meticulous without being rushed, and she was mindful of sensitivity, checking in regularly to make sure everything felt okay.
She also provided helpful, practical advice for maintaining oral health at home, tailored to my specific needs rather than generic recommendations. Overall, the appointment felt efficient, informative, and genuinely patient-centered. Highly recommend her.

I am writing to formally dispute the charges associated with my visit and to raise a serious concern regarding how services were provided.
I scheduled my appointment specifically for a routine dental cleaning in preparation for a family wedding. Instead, I was given a comprehensive exam and X-rays, which were not clearly explained, requested, or authorized by me in a manner that would constitute informed financial consent.
While I understand that dental providers may recommend additional services, patients must be given a clear explanation of costs and must affirmatively agree before those services are performed. That did not occur in this case.
As a result, I am now facing a significant and unexpected financial obligation for services I did not intend to receive, which raises concerns under consumer protection and billing transparency standards.
Under New York consumer protection principles (including NY General Business Law §349 – prohibiting deceptive business practices), service providers are required to:
Clearly disclose the nature and cost of services
Obtain informed consent prior to performing non-routine or costly procedures
Avoid practices that could mislead or financially disadvantage the consumer
Based on my experience, these standards were not met.
Formal Dispute
I am hereby formally disputing the charges associated with:
Comprehensive exam
X-rays
Any additional services not directly tied to the requested cleaning
Requested Resolution
To resolve this matter amicably, I am requesting:
1. Immediate review and adjustment or removal of the disputed charges
2. Written clarification of how consent was obtained prior to performing these services
3. Confirmation that this matter will not be reported to collections while under dispute
Next Steps (if unresolved)
If this issue is not resolved fairly, I am prepared to escalate the matter through appropriate consumer protection channels, including:
Filing a complaint with the New York State Attorney General’s Office
Submitting a report to the Better Business Bureau
Disputing the charges with my insurance provider and/or financial institution
I would prefer to resolve this directly with your office in good faith, but I expect a fair and transparent outcome that reflects the services I actually requested.
Please respond promptly with how you intend to address this dispute.
Sincerely,
Vernon A. Cole

Sarah did a very strong job during my visit. She was organized, efficient, and clearly experienced. The appointment moved smoothly, but she still took the time to be precise and detail-oriented in her cleaning.
What stood out was her ability to communicate findings in a straightforward, understandable way—she pointed out areas to monitor and gave specific suggestions for improvement without being overwhelming. She maintained a calm, professional demeanor throughout, which made the overall experience low-stress.
Would absolutely choose to see her again.
