⭐ 0-Star Review — Aspen Dental, Waterford, CT My experience at Aspen Dental in Waterford was absolutely unacceptable!!! I went in on July 29, 2026 as a new patient simply trying to establish routine dental care. I left with a $4,485 treatment plan for “Stage 3 — severe” periodontal disease, with $2,511 listed as my responsibility. I seriously dispute this diagnosis and treatment plan. The diagnosis and treatment plan were diagnosed and presented to me by the hygienist, while the office manager characterized it as “Stage 3 — severe.” Dr. Richard Frank, the dentist and practice owner, briefly examined me but never personally presented, explained, or confirmed this periodontal diagnosis or treatment plan to me. When I later formally declined the $4,485 procedure and asked to schedule a normal six-month cleaning, I was told Aspen Dental would provide me NO cleaning services whatsoever unless I accepted the $4,485 treatment. Talk about a money grab!!! Aspen Dental has already billed my insurance for the examination and imaging, consuming annual benefits and complicating my ability to simply establish care elsewhere. The condition of the treatment room was also disturbing. I photographed broken and dirty clinical equipment, including a cracked, discolored pressure gauge with residue (mold and/or rust) around it (see photo), along with debris and markings on the equipment. Even more disturbing, during my approximately one-hour visit, four young children were roaming throughout the dental office without adult supervision. They moved between rooms and clinical areas, one used an office computer to play video games, and one sat alone in a hallway. I did not observe any staff member supervising them. All with unabated acres to sharp instruments, power tools, gas/air lines, and possibly medications or other chemicals. I was concerned enough by what I personally witnessed that I filed reports with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families and the Connecticut Department of Public Health. I have also formally escalated my concerns to Aspen Dental corporate leadership and requested an independent clinical review. No response, do not seem to care! I absolutely would NOT recommend this Aspen Dental location. Patients and children deserve better!!!

First-time patient. I worked with Dr. Catania, and she was great. I was really nervous and had already made up my mind about how the appointment was going to go. However, I was pleasantly surprised. It was truly refreshing to speak with her. I felt heard, and after just one visit, I can honestly say I trust her and her professional advice. For the first time, I actually have hope about everything ahead, the work I need done, and that I'm in good hands. I also met with Kayla to discuss the financial side of things. She was excellent in the way she presented my options. I never felt like the goal was to get me to spend the most money or choose the most expensive treatment. Instead, I felt there was a genuine desire to do what was best for me. She made me part of the conversation, and once again, I felt heard. I'll post updates as I go through the treatment I need, but I have a feeling it's going to be a great experience.

I spent over a month trying to get an infected tooth pull. I was getting the run around from many dentist. They had me make an appointment, but then when I get there, they told me my insurance didn't cover it. Even though I told them my insurance coverage. But told me they would do it for between $300-$800. Finally, I contacted Aspen Dental. I went in filled out the documents. They did x-rays etc. And finally I got the tooth pulled. With the coverage I had it cost me just $99! The Dentist was exceptional! The staff was the best! I am moving all my dental care to Aspen Dental. I highly recommend them. They treat you like a person, not an ATM.

for reasons I'm not getting into, I've had a serious issue with dentists since the 60s... i was a kid. as a result, at the age of 61 my teeth were in horrible condition. I've been a grint, bouncer and bodyguard. I've done hard things but the anxiety about dealing with this was worse than combat or fights. the staff was compassionate and caring. patient and very soliticius without condescension. I've had my teeth extracted and am healing with frequent follow-ups now as my gums heal and transition from temp dentures to permanent ones. I still get nervous but the staff is amazing. yeah they're a chain. their prices are fair, the care is excellent and they're kind. highly recommend
