I’ve taken a long time to write this review because I wanted to reflect carefully on my experience. In my time with this practice, I was frequently recommended for dental work, particularly fillings. Early on, I had a few fillings done based on their recommendations. Unfortunately, one of those teeth still causes discomfort, and another later developed complications that required a root canal, which was also performed at this office. Over time, I continued to receive recommendations for additional fillings, including in areas with minor gum recession or very small spots. This started to feel unusual to me, as I hadn’t historically needed this level of dental work. To be sure, I sought second and third opinions from other dentists, sharing the same information and treatment plans. In both cases, they did not see a need for the recommended fillings and advised that things looked fine. I understand that dentistry can involve differences in clinical judgment and treatment thresholds. However, based on my experience and the consistency of the other opinions I received, I felt uncomfortable proceeding with further recommended work. I would encourage others to seek a second opinion if they are unsure about recommended treatments, just to feel confident in their decisions.

Very disappointing experience with Avalon Dental. My appointment was scheduled for Monday, May 4, 2026 at 12:30 PM and had been scheduled for months. I received a reminder from Avalon Dental confirming that exact appointment time. Then, the office told me my 12:30 appointment time had been taken and asked me to reschedule. I did not cancel or ask to reschedule, the scheduling issue came from their side. Based on what they told me, I selected 10:30 AM. After that, I was told to come at 10:00 AM instead in less than an hour notice, which I never agreed to. On top of that, they mentioned a $50 cancellation/rescheduling fee, even though I was not the one canceling or rescheduling the original appointment. This situation was handled poorly and caused unnecessary confusion and stress. Patients schedule appointments around school, transportation, and other responsibilities. If an office confirms an appointment time, that time should be honored or at minimum, the patient should not be blamed or threatened with fees when the office changes the schedule. I would not recommend this office based on this experience.

I went for my appointment to have fillings done. After getting numb the dentist spent less than 10 min doing my filling. After leaving I felt something was off with the experience and the tooth had a rough spot. I finally went to a different dentist and the noticed a hole where the dentist at Avalon dental drilled. His work was sloppy and rushed.

My first experience at Avalon Dental was great. I received a really warm welcome as a new patient. I've been a patient at two of the top dentist offices in DE none of them can match the level of customer service I received at Avalon Dental. They expected my insurance and worked out easy and affordable payment model. I've visited the Christiana and Newport offices, both sites were really quaint with a nice beach or harbor theme. Shout out to the doctor who moonlights as an interior decorator!

Most people would agree that going to the Dentist is no fun but at Avalon dental of Christiana, they definitely make the process as painless as possible. The front desk staff is always pleasant and good about any rescheduling or if you're running a little behind. My hygienist Brittany is excellent. I have some staining on by bottom front teeth due to smoking and drinking coffee. She never lectures me, just gets in there removes the stains and I always feel better about my smile when I leave. I would definitely recommend this dentistry to anyone in the area.
