A Detailed Review: So I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed by Buck & Phillips around 2 months before writing this. I am in the healthcare field, so I am very specific about every detail of a procedure, especially when it comes to my mouth because I also do voice acting. The initial experience registering was of course very smooth and nice, they answered a lot of the insurance questions that I had. I had Dr. Andrew Buck. And at first, my experience with him seemed generic; which is understandable because of how common this procedure is. He answered each of my questions related to risks, nerve damage, and listened to my concerns about my already uneven jaw. After the procedure, there was 1 infection but he answered my call and was able to see me immediately to take care of it. Then he informed me of some unexpected things he found in my xrays and was very thorough about what it could mean and how to move forward. I genuinely appreciate thoroughness, especially when it comes to health. I am fully healed with no issues, so I would highly recommend!

I haven't had oral surgery since the 90s and it has come so far. Dr. Buck helped me get rid of a bone on my gum that had been growing for years. He was amazing and treated me as I mattered. I have been brushed off so many times, but he had a plan and THAT feels amazing. Being seen, being heard. He and his nurse have excellent bedside manner. I chose local and laughing gas and as he shaved off that bone I never felt a thing. I am so pleased!! Even in recovery, Dr. Buck and his staff made adjustments that are most beneficial for my situation. I highly recommend Buck and Phillips Oral Surgery for your oral surgery needs. They were my second opinion and I am so glad I went with them. Thanks again, Dr. Buck!

Went in to get my bottom two wisdom teeth removed yesterday. Overall, it was a pleasant experience! My nurses couldn't find a vein for IV sedation (I was probably too dehydrated) but no problem. I was able to get them extracted with local anesthesia and laughing gas and didn't feel a thing. This morning I woke up with slight discomfort but nothing too serious. Buck and nurses are very caring to their patients. 5/5 would recommend!

I visited Dr Philips on July 14 for a cost estimate on some oral surgery recommended by my dentist. I paid $110 but to this day have not received any feedback let alone a cost estimate. I called and left messages a few times but NEVER received a call back. The office is well staffed as witnessed during my visit so why is it not possible to get a text or email with some feedback. Cannot recommend this practice.
UPDATE: Buck and Philips Oral Surgery did reach out to me following my review and apologized. I am scheduled to have surgery late October and will hopefully be able to increase to 5 stars.

It's been about 4 years since my visit. I had searched for oral surgeons to do a biopsy on a sore on my tongue. Was turned down by some and some an appointment was 2 to 3 months out. Called Buck and Philips and the receptionist set me a fast appointment. I went in and Dr. Philips performed the surgery, sent it off and a few days later he called with results which was cancer. Talked to me and his office aided me to set up for surgery. I was lucky to go to Buck and Phillips. I had surgery that removed part of my tongue, limpnodes, and other samples. They got it all and I was blessed not to need radiation or chemo thanks to Dr. Phillips and staff for quickly getting me in for biopsy and God for his protection.

Buck and Phillips Oral Surgery is an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice located at 1112 19th Street South in the Southside area of Birmingham, Alabama, near the city's medical district. The practice offers dental implant placement along with the supporting procedures many implant patients need, including bone grafting, tooth extractions, and pre-prosthetic surgery to prepare the mouth for replacement teeth. The office also provides wisdom tooth removal, treatment of oral pathology, jaw surgery, facial trauma care, and anesthesia options so patients can be comfortable during surgery.
This is a long-established Birmingham practice with deep local roots. Dr. William P. Buck Jr. is a second-generation oral surgeon whose father started the practice in 1957, and Dr. Buck joined him in 1992. In addition to the Southside office, the practice has a second location in North Shelby County, and it serves patients from surrounding communities such as Pelham, Trussville, Leeds, Hueytown, and Gardendale. The Southside office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon.

He has served in the past as Chief of Oral Surgery at Brookwood Hospital and is on staff at Brookwood Hospital and St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham. Dr. Blake Phillips, Doctor of Dental Medicine, grew up in Birmingham and returned to Alabama to practice after nearly ten years away. Dr. Andrew I. Buck, Doctor of Dental Medicine, is a third-generation oral surgeon whose grandfather founded the practice in 1957. He earned his dental degree from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Glendale, Arizona, and completed a one-year internship followed by a four-year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York.
