I had three teeth extracted by Dr Monahan and his elite team. The whole process was smooth. The receptionist was warm and wonderful, despite the storm knocking out their servers. "Little" Jackie got me all squared away and was so incredibly kind, funny, and made me feel very comfortable. The nitrous definitely had me feeling comfy before I got acquainted with the other nurse but she was great too and got my IV going perfectly. Dr Monahan is amazing and even called me to check on me. I know procedures like this are scary but I'm so glad I was treated here. Highly recommend.

Last Friday, I went to Capital Oral and Facial Surgery Blue Ridge to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Monahan and his lovely team. I was very nervous about the procedure but now that I am about 6 days post-op, I can attest that there was nothing to be nervous about. The receptionists who greeted me had great energy, my nurse was very warm, nurturing, and attentive, and Dr. Monahan was phenomenal. If I had more wisdom teeth to get pulled, I’d absolutely let them handle the procedure again

My son had his wisdom teeth removed here. The staff and doctor were great! They took time to explain the aftercare and make sure we both felt equipped for successful healing! Highly recommend!

My child had their wisdom teeth removed under anesthesia by Dr. Monahan and it was a flawless experience with the back of house staff. From our initial consult with him to the procedure itself, we had an excellent experience with the provider and his assistants. The healing process has been very smooth thus far and it was a lovely gesture that the doctor called us the afternoon of the procedure to check in and ensure everything was ok.
My experience with the front of house staff was unfortunately not as welcoming or smooth. During my initial call to schedule I asked for a ballpark cost, and was told they do not provide cost estimates until a consultation is performed. OK, fair enough, but the way it was said to me was shockingly rude. I was talked to as if I were an idiot for asking for an estimate. When we arrived for the consult appointment, I was informed that I must pay for the consult in full even though I had already verified it was covered by our insurance 50/50 (and the claim has been paid). Despite having our insurance data, they hadn't checked if a consult was covered, and I was flippantly told "it usually isn't".
The person who referred to themselves as the insurance coordinator did not understand how COBRA worked and as a result the surgery was delayed. I was told we would be squeezed in as soon as the insurance could be verified in the way they wanted it verified. When I called the office to reschedule I had to leave a voicemail. My call was not returned, and I had to call the office again the next day to reschedule. We were not squeezed in as promised, but thankfully the timing worked out with their offered times, so no complaint there.
The day of surgery, the front desk staff were blasting "Cake by the Ocean" through a Sonos speaker placed directly in front of where you stand to speak to them. The song choice alone? Straight to jail. The volume should be reduced or the speaker moved away so that conversation isn't so difficult. It would also be very helpful to have more mellow and soothing music playing. I'm sitting there with a super nervous kid and it's pretty hard to relax when Beyonce and Lady Gaga are scream-singing their hearts out. While we waited to be called back, a woman in purple scrubs came up front to vent about something to her coworkers. This would have been a non-issue if it weren't for the fact that she was cursing while doing so.
There is a startling lack of professionalism and kindness from admin staff, but I still feel the practice deserves 5 stars due to the skill of the back office staff. At the end of the day, the procedure itself matters more than admin staff, and this procedure was done with amazing skill and bedside manner.

Dr. Monahan and his entire staff were excellent! Professional! Friendly! Courteous! Open communication! They took very good care of my 15-year-old son. Highly recommend for your restorative dental needs!
