They don't accept Medicaid right now, Chicago is closest. Carle has become a nightmare, but at least the lady on the phone here was honest and explained that Medicaid patients closest option is Chicago and even listed Decatur and Indiana as places that also won't work. This saved me a ton of pain and suffering doing that kind of research myself

Everything that everyone hates about healthcare exists here. If you have Medicaid, you should absolutely seek care elsewhere. I had a consult more than 6 months ago, and I just now heard back after calling multiple times (8 times I think?) that they can’t verify my insurance because of a technical error. They claimed they couldn’t contact my insurance which is %100 factually incorrect as I have myself done insurance verification with Medicaid patients, and even contacted my dental insurance who told me they have a phone number available for verifications. I had to become extremely pushy to get anyone to assist me, and then when they finally answered the phone, they were condescending and entirely unhelpful. I finally gave up and I’m seeing another provider in another city. Although, they refused to give me a referral which will make me have to pay out of pocket for my new consult. Truly an insane process, as someone who worked in healthcare I can say without a doubt this office is very incompetent and under equipped to support patients, and they seem to have a discriminatory attitude towards people on Medicaid. I just gave up because after my last interaction it was clear they were stone walling me, perhaps they don’t get paid as well for Medicaid surgery. Additionally, the person who did my consult and exam did not seem to be thorough or ask any questions about my history or jaw issues. Thanks for a nearly 6 month headache and complete waste of my time :) Hope this helps!

I am in extreme pain. I was refered to Carle for oral surgery but they refuse to help me because I dont live in Champaign county. Carle wants my help when the roof is leaking but they can't pull some teeth for me when I'm in pain because i live 40 miles away. I thought they take an oath to help people.

I had a fairly minor biopsy done yesterday. It was led by Jessica McGee. She and her team were friendly and made sure I was comfortably supportive during the procedure along with making sure I understood post-biopsy instructions. I cannot speak to the long term outcome but so far it is healing as expected. I am also following the post-biopsy guidelines to ensure proper healing. Yesterday I called and was assisted within a few rings after the initial automated greeting. Today I received a followup call that I missed. I called back and it was picked up quickly again. I was then transferred to the nurse on duty. Both the receptionist and the nurse were helpful. I see some of the reviews indicate that it is hard to reach somebody. I saw one receptionist on duty when I arrived yesterday which may make it harder to reach someone when it's busy.

About Carle Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Carle Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, part of Carle Health, is located at 602 West University Avenue in Urbana, Illinois. The practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, injuries and other abnormalities of the face, mouth and jaw, and dental implant surgery is one of the outpatient procedures offered. As described on the practice's website, dental implant surgery replaces tooth roots with titanium alloy posts and replaces damaged or missing teeth with artificial teeth. The surgical placement is typically followed by a healing period of three to four months before the final restoration is placed by the patient's dentist.

Patients who are missing one or more teeth, or who have full or partial dentures that cause pain or embarrassment, may be candidates for dental implants according to the practice. The website also notes that reconstructive bone grafting, including sinus lift procedures, may be used to support or rebuild bone in cases where it has resorbed, allowing for implant placement after a healing period. All providers at the practice are board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Patients considering dental implants can schedule a consultation to discuss their options with the surgical team.
