My hubby and I have been loyal to Dr. Yokoyama and the entire team for many years! We recommend everyone we know to go and visit them! They truly have a spa environment feel, always so clean, modern, and with an awesome view — you almost forget you have to get dental work done :-) for someone who has such a strong fear of the dentist (me), their team has always made me feel comfortable, safe and go way above and beyond to make sure that I am taken care of! I haven’t missed an appt since switching to their practice- and even completed a “clear correct” aligner program - my smile looks fabulous!
We consider everyone to be friends— that is how much they care about us and our personal lives — not just our teeth :) we love our team there! Mahalo for all you do

Dr. Yokoyama and all his staff are top notch. Welcomed with Aloha as you walk in, treated with respect, everyone explains what will happen. This is Thee best dental practice I have ever been to! 20 years ago and still counting. Nothing less than perfection from Dr. Yokoyama!! Thank you ALL 👍🏼👍🏼

The staff is welcoming & nice, lobby is relaxing, exam rooms are meticulously clean & calm. This was the best dental experience of my 60+ life. I am overjoyed to have found "my" dentis in Dr. Yokoyama!

I’ve been with Dr. Yokoyama for years, and this team truly stands out.
Dr. Yokoyama is top-tier. He’s cleaned up old dental work for me with precision and real expertise. You feel the competence immediately — steady, capable, and genuinely invested in getting it right.
The staff as a whole is outstanding — kind, efficient, and welcoming every single visit. They run a tight ship but never lose the personal touch. After years of coming here, they feel like familiar faces you’re always glad to see.
And then there’s Jeanette, my hygienist for over 10 years. She is hands-down the best show in town. Funnier than most SNL sketches, incredibly personable, and doing meticulous work the entire time. I don’t know how she pulls that off. She truly cares about me and my family, and it shows. I love her.
Let’s be honest — the Big Island isn’t exactly known for exceptional medical care. This office is the exception.
If you’re lucky enough to get in, do it. The wait is absolutely worth it.

Ambie facilitated getting an emergency appointment to reinstall a crown that fell out. I am a visitor to the Island and this practice. They welcomed me and did a wonderful fix on restoring my crown! Professional personable concerned. 10 STARS

Carter S. Yokoyama, DDS is a cosmetic, general and restorative dental practice located at 75-5905 Walua Road, Suite 7 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, serving patients from Kailua-Kona, Kalaoa, Holualoa and Honalo. For patients missing one or more teeth, Dr. Yokoyama offers dental implants as a sturdier alternative to removable dentures and bridges. The practice describes implant treatment as a multi-step process: Dr. Yokoyama first evaluates whether the jawbone and gum tissue are healthy enough to support an implant, the implant is then surgically placed, and after a period of healing in which the implant fuses to the bone, it is restored with a crown, bridge or denture. Every implant case begins with a comprehensive examination and consultation to determine whether implants are the right choice.
Beyond implants, the office provides restorative and general dentistry, cosmetic services such as porcelain veneers, teeth whitening and Six Month Smiles short-term orthodontics, and treatment for sleep apnea. The practice offers conscious sedation dentistry for patients who feel anxious about dental visits, and it has built a relaxed dental spa atmosphere intended to help guests feel comfortable from the moment they arrive. Meet the Doctors
Dr. Carter S. Yokoyama, DDS leads the practice. He grew up in Honolulu, graduated from Punahou School in 1984, and completed both his undergraduate studies and dental school at the University of Washington, graduating from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 1992. He is licensed to practice in Hawaii and Washington and is an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the American Dental Association. Dr. Yokoyama is a graduate of the Pacific Aesthetic Continuum (Pac-live), the Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education and The Hornbrook Group, and he has served as a visiting faculty member at the Spear Institute for Advanced Dental Education, teaching other dentists restorative and cosmetic dentistry. He donates his time to the Donated Dental Services Program and the Give Back a Smile Program, and he completes many hours of continuing education each year.
