Dr Syme was great. Had a wisdom tooth pulled. In. Out. No pain and not numb for hours.

Oh my word DONT go here!! I was LIED to, told I would be asleep for my surgery & was not fully out. The “Dr” said he can’t prescribe the ONLY med I’m not allergic to for pain (not true I looked it up) & he SEEMS like he cares yet I can tell fakers of kindness from MANY people! He does NOT care, & the tech who gave my discharge instructions (knowing I’m allergic to NSAIDS) told me to alternate Tylenol/Ibuprofen (an NSAID 🤦♀️), yet neglected to give me gauze for all the bleeding; not good. He also messed up someones teeth during oral surgery, they cracked & they ended up swallowing parts of them! There are WAY better oral surgeons in IA that may not be that close by, yet WORTH the drive for actual care & knowledge. One is in IA City at Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center, where I’m going if I ever need services again. God have mercy on this place, it’s like an assembly line; wouldn’t send a dog here. I would give 0 stars yet, there are some kind techs & office staff so for them it’s the star.

This place went above and beyond for me. Expedited my surgery so I didn't have to wait too long. I was treated with respect and kindness. I was absolutely impressed by their professionalism, it was a blessing to see the Dentist and thee assistant or hygienist in action. They worked so well together like a fine oiled machine. Impeccable. The building itself is also quite the sight to see. I've traveled the world and never been in a finer establishment. More often than not if people have a good experience they don't leave a review but I've been treated badly elsewhere in the past which has motivated me to give credit when credit is due. I can't thank Cedar Valley Oral Surgery PC enough for treating me fairly just as they would treat anyone else. Despite having a tooth removed visiting this place was the highlight of my day! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! God bless.

Cedar Valley Oral Surgery is an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice located at 820 Fisher Drive in Waterloo, Iowa. The practice's surgeons practice a broad scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with expertise ranging from wisdom tooth removal to dental implant and bone grafting procedures. Other services listed on the practice's website include tooth extractions. Patients come from Waterloo and the surrounding Cedar Valley communities.
For patients considering dental implants, the practice explains that implant treatment is a team effort between the oral surgeon and a restorative dentist. The surgeons perform the implant surgery, any initial tooth extractions, and bone grafting when needed, while the patient's own dentist fits and makes the permanent replacement teeth. The surgical staff are experienced, certified oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants who assist with intravenous sedation and outpatient general anesthesia in the office, and patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery. Office staff are also certified in CPR and advanced cardiac life support.
Cedar Valley Oral Surgery is led by two oral and maxillofacial surgeons, Ryan N. Borgwardt, DDS and Brandon Syme, DDS. According to the practice's website, oral and maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school, and Dr. Borgwardt and Dr. Syme manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, and facial regions, from dental implant surgery to tooth removal.
