We had an exceptionally positive experience with Dr. McQuinn. From the initial consultation onward, he demonstrated remarkable patience and attentiveness, taking the time to thoroughly address all of our questions and concerns with clarity and compassion. His thoughtful approach put us completely at ease. The procedure itself went seamlessly, and the recovery was remarkably smooth and straightforward—far better than we anticipated. Dr. McQuinn’s expertise and caring demeanor truly shine through in every aspect of his practice. We wholeheartedly recommend Dr. McQuinn without hesitation and will confidently return to him for any future oral surgery needs.

Really great place! I had an infected wisdom tooth that antibiotics were not helping and they were able to get me in the next day! PRF really helps with the healing, I didn’t swell very much or have much pain. I was able to stop taking ibuprofen after two days. Very nice people :)) The lady that works at the front desk is super helpful and very nice as well.

I went in for some emergency dental care after being kneed in the mouth. The professionalism, care and kindness i received was the best I have ever received. I had no appointment and the doctor fit me in, provided me with great care and guidance and steps forward. I was in extreme pain and was given pain meds which lasted all night. The nurses were awesome and allowed my son to be with me during my care and the doctor who is military friendly was awesome. Overall, I would definitely recommend coming here for any oral care or surgery and will return myself if i ever need it again. To the staff: Thank you for the support and care you provided in my situation.

I could not be more thankful than I am to the Doctors, Nurses, and all other staff we met here. My partner was treated with compassion, and understanding. The care he recieved was professional and his results were flawless. Not long after- my daughter needed emergency care. She was seen within 10 minutes of that call, and had her surgery the next day. She is now healed, and I am so very grateful for the knowledge and skills within this office.

**EDITED** Dr Williams was kind enough to offer an apology for the error. I spoke with someone immediately following my review. Changing my review to 5 stars for the care and concern this office has shown! First time client. Office & staff were really nice. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was I was never told ahead of time, other than at my appointment, that I would have to pay $300 for additional diagnostic scans. They did ask before doing them though, & I'm very thankful for that. I just would've liked to have been better prepared. They got my procedure scheduled immediately after the consult. I would highly recommend!

About Coastal Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Coastal Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is an oral surgery practice located at 604 McCarthy Boulevard in New Bern, North Carolina. The practice is led by two board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeons, Dr. Charles E. Williams and Dr. Michael W. McQuinn, who practice a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise in tooth removal, placement of dental implants, biopsies, and surgeries that support orthodontic treatment. Other services described on the practice's website include wisdom teeth removal, exposure of impacted teeth, bone grafting for implants, corrective jaw surgery, and oral pathology. Intravenous sedation is provided in the office to help make treatment safe and comfortable.

For patients considering dental implants, the practice explains that implant treatment is a team effort between the oral surgeon and the patient's restorative dentist. Dr. Williams and Dr. McQuinn perform the implant surgery, any initial tooth extractions, and bone grafting when needed, while the patient's own dentist fits and makes the final replacement teeth. The surgeons place single stage implants, which do not require a second procedure to uncover them, and in some situations an implant can be placed at the same time as the tooth extraction. The first visit consists of a consultation covering the diagnosis and treatment options, and the practice notes that surgery can occasionally be performed the same day. The office also offers patient information in Spanish and can be reached at (252) 638-6177.
