About Dental Care Associates

Dental Care Associates has served patients in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for more than two decades from its office at 720 North Sycamore Avenue. The practice was founded by Dr. Michael Smith and Dr. Nichol Smith, who moved to Sioux Falls to open the office in 1999 after completing their service in the United States Air Force. Dr. Nichol Smith is now retired from the practice. Today the team includes several general dentists who see patients for everything from routine checkups to more advanced restorative work, giving people considering dental implants a familiar, established office to turn to close to home.

For patients missing one or more teeth, the practice offers dental implant treatment, including All-on-4 and full-arch options designed to replace a full row of teeth with a fixed, stable set of replacement teeth anchored to a small number of implant posts. The office also provides general dentistry, preventive care, cosmetic dentistry, teeth whitening, and sedation dentistry for patients who feel anxious about dental visits, so implant patients can have most of their care coordinated in one place. Meet the Doctors

Dental Care Associates is led by a team of general dentists. Dr. Michael Smith, DDS, co-founded the practice in 1999 along with his wife, Dr. Nichol Smith, after the couple served together in the United States Air Force. He is originally from York, Nebraska, served eight years in the Naval Reserves including a Gulf War deployment in 1990 and 1991, and earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Creighton University before completing his dental degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry, where he met his wife. He also teaches part time at the Creighton University Dental School. Dr. Nichol Smith, DDS, co-founded the practice alongside her husband in 1999 and is now retired. Dr. Chelsea Kuipers, DDS, was born and raised in Sioux Falls, graduated from Lincoln High School, and earned degrees in biology and Spanish from Augustana University before completing her dental degree at Creighton University Dental School in 2010, when she joined the practice. Dr. Parker Smith, DDS, grew up in Brandon, South Dakota, attended South Dakota State University before transferring to Creighton University, and graduated with honors from Creighton Dental School in 2024 with his dental degree. Dr. Peyton Kuchenbecker, DDS, was born and raised in Philip, South Dakota, and earned undergraduate degrees in human biology and microbiology from South Dakota State University before completing her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Creighton University School of Dentistry.
