I had to come here for an emergency tooth extraction, so I’ve had about 3 appointments so far. My impression is that it is ‘white glove’ service in the sense that the facility is quite attractive, the staff are all extremely polite and attentive, and the advice given is beyond what many dentist offices will provide. Yet they accept dental insurance, so it is affordable. The office is large and clean (all of the tools are wrapped in plastic prior to use), and the staff wear masks while working in your mouth. They keep calm music playing and have soothing images streaming on a monitor in the rooms. In terms of my actual tooth removal process: the dental assistant (a lovely man, sorry I can’t remember his name) prepared me for what to expect and took x-rays and then the dentist came in and gave local anesthesia. They were both involved in the removal (which was challenging due to the curved nature of the tooth). I appreciated that the dentist talked me through the entire process and also showed me the tooth once it was removed. Not everyone might appreciate this, but I like to nerd out on things like that. For the post op I was provided with a sheet of directions and the dentist checked in via text the following day. I had to take a lot of otc pain medications and some of the directions in terms of dosage were a bit confusing. I did communicate this to the dentist and he clarified. I then had a follow up a week later, and then at 4 weeks had the stitches removed. Overall, I am grateful that they were able to see me on short notice and that the process was so seamless. I did have an issue with my payment, because I had financial aid that was due to be disbursed from my school the next day and had thought that they would be deposited in time for my check to clear, but they were late this semester. And while an anomaly for me and embarrassing, they handled the situation professionally (Silvia was extremely professional and efficient, as was the front desk manager).

They were all very nice and kind but when I was given the estimate for the work I needed done, which was extensive, it was about $15,000. When I asked how much of that am I responsible for because I am 65 and older with Medicare, she said that was my out-of-pocket expense. I took the itemized bill to other Dentist and asked how much it would cost I was just walking with no insurance, and it was considerably cheaper than they were charging me with insurance. So the other person is correct. There is a pattern here.

So far I couldn’t be more impressed / pleased by the kindness and supportive staff that have taken care of me so far. You can tell they enjoy what they do in the service they provide. Not many people enjoy going to the dentist. Me included. I was received well and put at ease. 👍👍👍

Val was super fantastic! Great personality/bedside manner. I explained to her that I was coming off 2 horrible dental experiences this year and she took the time to explain everything she was doing and made me feel extremely comfortable in the chair. I hope the rest of the staff I encounter in upcoming visits (dentist, hygienist) are the same.

Dr. Wahedi told me I needed to do a deep cleaning procedure that my HMO health plan would not cover. He also told me I had some cavities that needed attention. I was given a $2,000.00 out of pocket estimate. I came home and reread Yelp reviews. There are some that suggested Dr. Wahedi can not be trusted. Due to the fact that I am an HMO patient I believe to be compensated he recommends unnecessary treatments. Thus was my case. My gut said to get a second opinion. I changed health plans and went with a PPO which opens up a lot of options for well qualified, honest dentists. I found Dr. Kevin Jeffers, who has a 5 star rating. I do not need deep cleaning nor do I need cavities filled. Dr. Wahedi made me so concerned and stressed. He mentioned gum disease and said it can lead to heart disease. Perhaps that is true, but the way he presented it to me was to invoke fear. Thus, I would not hesitate to do the $2,000. plan. Worst dental experience I have ever had in my 65 years. Dr. Jeffers was kind, honest and made me feel at ease, as there is nothing to worry about. RED FLAG. I would not recommend Design Dental Smiles nor trust this dentist.
