My wife had a couple of fillings done. During the process, the dentist was somewhat rough, and the assistant spilled water on her twice. One of the fillings came out later that same day. She informed me she would NOT return to EFD. I nearly fell over when I saw how much they billed our insurance. My wife went to Barbara Smith in Clovis to have the filling fixed. Do your due diligence.....

Eastern Family Dentistry has been wonderful! We recently moved to town and I had a dental emergency. They were able to get me in the same day. Every staff member I came in contact with was extremely kind and knowledgeable. I ended up having to have more work done than expected and Dr. Standing even called the next day to check to see how I was feeling after the procedure and give me tips on how to feel better. I don't believe I have ever had a Dentist call me after a procedure to make sure I am healing well. That was very kind. I cannot express how kind every single person was in that office. I highly recommend if you are in Portales to consider Eastern Family Dentistry as your chosen dental office.

The front staff were very friendly and quick paperwork. Dr. Standing and the dental staff were very good, nice and efficient. It was the best dental experience I have had.

My daughter had her wisdom teeth removed the end of December. I paid the out of pocket costs quoted to me. Got a call a few weeks ago telling me that I have an outstanding balance of several hundred dollars more. They were giving me a call as a courtesy to let me know that portion was not covered by insurance because somehow routine cleanings had maxed out my coverage. The lady I spoke with then insisted that I give her a date I would pay the balance even though I had never even received a statement. It was like a collection call. This was also when I was informed that they were now not a small business but a corporate owned dental office. So off putting on a lot of levels! By the was I still have never received a statement. So so shady! I will be taking my business elsewhere!

Update: Issue was corrected... after 3 weeks of phone calls and posting a 1-star review. Deceptive billing practices: After selling the practice, they went out of network with my insurance and did not inform me, leading to a bill for what should have been a 100% covered routine cleaning. They have repeatedly refused to take accountability for this error. Other people I know have had similar experiences. It is 100% worth driving to Clovis to avoid dealing with these people.
