I had an emergency and they were able to get me in same day! Dr. Ambis was great. My insurance is out of network, so I had to pay up front, but they went over expected costs with me and are filing the paperwork with my insurance company, which should still cover some of the costs.

About Edward J. Ambis Center for Dental Medicine

Edward J. Ambis Center for Dental Medicine, also known as Ambis Dental, is a general dentistry practice located on a quiet residential street at 118 West Buffalo Street in Ithaca, New York. The office welcomes patients from Ithaca and the surrounding communities of Lansing, Dryden, and Trumansburg, and offers a wheelchair accessible parking lot as well as street parking out front. The practice describes its focus as doing all it can to optimize each patient's oral health, with services that include preventive care such as cleanings, exams, and oral cancer screenings, children's dentistry, restorative care including crowns, bridges, fillings, inlays and onlays, cosmetic treatments such as veneers, bonding, and whitening, gum disease treatment, TMJ (jaw joint) treatment, emergency dentistry, and sedation options with nitrous oxide or oral sedation for anxious patients.

For patients missing one or more teeth, the practice provides comprehensive implant dentistry, described on its website as start to finish smile rehabilitation handled in house, from the initial evaluation through implant placement and the final restoration, rather than referring patients out for the surgical step. Implant options listed on the site include single tooth implants, All-on-4 full arch treatment supported by four implants, implant supported dentures (overdentures), and implant supported bridges. Before recommending treatment, Dr. Ambis evaluates each patient's bone and tissue health to determine whether implants are a good fit and then prepares a customized plan. The office is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9am to 4pm, Wednesday from 9am to 2pm, and one Friday a month from 9am to 2pm.

Meet the Doctors

The practice is led by Dr. Edward J. Ambis, who has provided dental care in New York for over 40 years. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the SUNY Buffalo School of Dentistry and also holds a master's degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology. The practice website also lists him as a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (DICOI). Dr. Ambis is a member of the American Dental Association and a fellow of the Resnik Implant Institute, which the practice website also refers to as the Misch Institute. The office team also includes Dotti Ambis, M.D., who serves as patient advocate and office manager; she is a physician, not a dentist, and does not provide dental treatment.
