First, Dr. Robertson and the procedure staff were wonderful. They were fantastic with my son and very helpful when it turned out my son's dentist had not sent over the x-rays and info as promised. I would give Dr. Robertson a 5 out of 5.
However, the billing process and the lack of responsiveness to my communications has been absolutely the worst encountered. I have left voicemails, messages with staff, and sent emails. When I reach someone, they promise to assist and have someone call back but it never happens. My insurance company also requested information and encountered a similar lack of responsiveness. I understand they changed billing companies not too long ago but I have been trying more than a year to resolve this and obtain a refund for the amount I paid. For this alone I would rate the office a one star.
I would note that about 8 months after this procedure, I chose a different provider for my other son's wisdom teeth removal. The insurance billing and refund were seamless. Same procedure and same insurance companies, but a world of difference in dealing with the office.

We have a special needs son who needed anesthesia in order to extract a tooth. From the outstanding front desk staff, including Elisha, the dentist, Doctor Robertson, and his back office staff, including Jeff and Sidra, our son received excellent care. The entire staff was very friendly and patient with our son. The staff also spent a lot of time explaining our son’s discharge instructions. Overall, an excellent experience!

Outstanding! Dr Norton and her assistant Kat are a powerhouse! Best oral surgeon team ever. I came in with a rather complicated case, but Dr Norton and Kat made me feel comfortable and safe. They ensured that the procedure was as easy and painless as possible - and they succeeded! I see why my regular dentist works only with this practice:) I am grateful for a successful broken molar extraction and will only go here if another extraction would be needed.

Dr Robertson is excellent! He took excellent care of my husband’s implant procedure. And this is my family’s 7th procedure with Fairfax Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery including wisdom teeth extractions for our 3 kiddos. Highly recommend the doctor & practice!!

I would not recommend Fairfax oral surgery. I was overcharged by over a thousand dollars between what I payed and what my insurance paid. I have asked for a refund of the overpayment and was told months ago that I would receive the refund. I have called numerous times. I will be writing the state corporation commission and other federal agencies as there needs to be an investigation of this organization. I will never return because of all of the false information I have received from the business dept.

Meet the Doctors
Dr. Fred Liu, D.D.S., M.D. sees patients at the Reston office. He is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who earned his dental degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and completed his medical degree and oral surgery training at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a surgical residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, and previously served as Chair of Dentistry at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. The wider practice's clinical team also includes Dr. Cyrus Ramsey, D.M.D., M.D., Dr. Steven Robertson, Dr. Emily Norton, Dr. Adam Zucker, and Dr. Christopher Kang, who together provide surgical care across the practice's five Northern Virginia offices.
