They did awesome work! I was very anxious to be getting my wisdom teeth out, but they were very polite, very caring, worked with me on billing when my insurance was being weird, and were informative the entire way. Thanks again!

Just got my wisdom teeth taken out here. Was not looking forward to the experience, but couldn’t have been a smoother ride. They changed their schedule around to accommodate my needs and the assistants/nurses there were so nice and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone needing their wisdom taken out.

Jenny and everyone here was absolutely amazing!!!! I have never been so scared to get my wisdom teeth removed but yet they answered every single one of my calls with my million questions I had, and were the sweetest people each time. Everyone made me feel so safe during the whole process as going under was one of my biggest fears. When I woke up they all were so encouraging and answered any questions I had as well. I fully healed and everything was amazing! I will go to them for any dental needs from now on.

About Grand Canyon Oral and Facial Surgery

Grand Canyon Oral & Facial Surgery is an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice located at 1600 W. University, Suite 101 in Flagstaff, Arizona. The practice describes itself as serving Northern Arizona, including Sedona, Prescott, Prescott Valley, Williams, Winslow, Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Holbrook and Payson. Its scope of care includes dental implants, wisdom tooth removal, tooth extractions, bone grafting, facial trauma and reconstruction, corrective jaw surgery, oral pathology, sleep apnea treatment and exposure of impacted teeth. Intravenous sedation is provided in the office, and the practice notes that it uses 3D imaging.

For patients considering dental implants, the practice explains that implant placement is a team effort between the oral surgeon and the patient's restorative dentist. The surgeon performs the implant surgery, any needed tooth extractions and bone grafting such as sinus lifts, ridge augmentation and socket preservation, while the patient's own dentist makes the final replacement teeth. The website covers single stage implants, placing an implant at the same time as an extraction in some cases, options for patients missing all upper or lower teeth, implant supported overdentures, and a same-day approach it calls Teeth-in-an-Hour. The practice says it gives up-front cost information, is in network with a variety of dental and medical insurance plans, offers extended hours on select days, and encourages anxious patients to ask about sedation options.

Meet the Doctors

The practice is led by Sudheer Surpure, M.D., D.D.S., F.A.C.S., an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who, according to the practice website, is Flagstaff's only full time board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He earned his dental degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in 1999 and his medical degree from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2002, where he also completed a general surgery internship and his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency in 2005. He later completed a fellowship in facial cosmetic surgery at The Ohio State Medical Center and Grant Medical Center, and served for six years as residency program director and division chief for oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix. His clinical interests include facial trauma, facial and jaw reconstructive surgery, oral and maxillofacial pathology, sleep apnea, and routine oral surgery.
