Today I had my second appointment at Hillside Dental and I was again favorably impressed with everyone and everything. Having myself practiced dentistry for forty-five years in Pennsylvania. and recently moved to Eau Claire I visited Hillside Dentistry as both a patient and a knowledgeable dental professional. Based on all my observations and interactions during my appointments I have confidence in the excellence of the clinicians and appreciate the warm and friendly atmosphere that greets me when I have the pleasure of their company.

I've been a patient for decades. However, a recent interaction motivates this review. Hygienist Bailey, Doctor Breneman, and front desk staff were exceptionally responsive, generous, and skilled. I am grateful (and still a bit moved!).

Before coming to Hillside, I hadn't been to the dentist for over 10 years - I'm 28. Setting up the appointment was simple - Dori was easy to work with. Checking in/out was the same. My first visit was for x-rays and information. I visited with Dr. Johnson, who was very down to earth and did a great job of easing my nerves. Dr. Johnson and Rachel were phenomenal when presenting what was going on with my teeth. My second visit was for a cleaning, and Victoria did a fantastic job. Not a hint of plaque was left on my teeth, and it was not nearly as uncomfortable as I remembered it being as a kid. She informed me of some good practices and made conversation easy throughout. Everyone I interacted with were kind, and more than happy to listen to my questions/concerns in order to give me thoughtful and informed answers. In reference to another review here: At no point was I upsold on anything or told I needed anything that I didn't also agree was necessary. The review stating that this happened to them, and that they had a terrible experience, is clearly from an individual that's upset at far more than just their dentist and is very likely miserable to interact with. I respect that they stood their ground and cut ties with someone like that - far too many businesses care more about money than the mental health of their employees. I will continue to go to this dental clinic and trust them with my oral health. They care and excel at the service they provide.

Been going here 50 plus years. They’ve always been great up until the last couple years. Not sure really why the change, but there has been some change in doctors and hygienists. The last couple times I was there first they tried telling me I should replace my old fillings With new ones because they’re kind of like Used cars you gotta take out the old and put new in… I said absolutely not. I’m not doing that. I have no issues. I also don’t have dental insurance so I don’t like to do x-rays Unless I have issues or at least As less frequent as possible. They refused to clean my teeth without doing x-rays, cause It had been two years… So I did the x-rays so I could get my teeth cleaned. Then the last two times I’ve been there they tried selling me a retainer Because they said I grind My teeth… Kind of strange that nobody’s told me that before In the past 50 years. I don’t know maybe they’re getting commissions Now or something. I made it perfectly clear to my doctor That I wasn’t happy with how things have changed there And he told me that maybe this clinic is not the right fit for you anymore And that is my choice to do whatever I decide. It was just a normal Respectable conversation… That was three weeks ago…. Today I get a letter in the mail from my Dr/dentist telling me that I’m no longer Welcome to be a patient at that clinic anymore as well as my family. I was completely shocked, but I don’t really care. I was gonna call and switch doctors within the clinic Anyway, but now I’ll just move on. Just wanted to warn everybody their new vibe there is to Try and sell you everything for your teeth that you don’t need! I also never noticed this until I went online to do a review…. Hillside dental has one of the lowest ratings in our area…. There’s obviously a reason!!! BEWARE EVERYONE!!!

Been going to Hillside Dental for over 25 years. They have been fantastic from every aspect; direct care, customer service, billing, communication, follow up, etc. Being in healthcare myself, I understand the importance of all avenues of patient care. I have referred over 15 friends and family that have become patients. Would not go anywhere else :-). THANK YOU to everyone and all you do!

About Hillside Dental

Hillside Dental is a general and family dental practice in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, offering dental implants as part of its broader restorative and cosmetic dentistry services. According to the practice, implants are presented as a long-term solution for missing teeth, offering an alternative to typical dentures. The practice explains that unlike dentures, dental implants require no dietary restrictions and in most cases restore complete functionality, while also helping keep the jawbone strong.

Patients considering implants at Hillside Dental can expect a practice that also provides a wide range of family, restorative, and cosmetic services, so implant care is handled alongside routine dental needs. The office describes a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, with amenities like music during procedures and options such as nitrous oxide or oral sedation for patients who feel anxious about dental visits. This approach may appeal to those who want their implant treatment handled by a familiar, general dental team rather than a specialty-only practice.

Meet the Doctors

The practice's clinical team includes Dr. Lonnette Breneman, who focuses on aesthetic and family dentistry, Dr. Chris Johnson, who focuses on comprehensive dentistry, and Dr. Stephen Welna, who focuses on family dentistry.
