We are incredibly grateful to Joplin Oral Surgery for the exceptional care they provided my son, Gideon.
After a deeply traumatic and painful experience at another provider, I reached out to Joplin Oral Surgery hoping they could help. Initially, there was a nine-day wait—but once I explained the urgency of his situation, they found a way to get him in the very next morning. That alone speaks volumes about their compassion and responsiveness.
From the moment we arrived, the team was calm, professional, and efficient. They listened to the full story without judgment, and while they never badmouthed the previous provider, they clearly knew how to handle the situation and quietly guided us through the steps to make everything right.
They performed the extraction of the remaining wisdom tooth fragment (left behind and mishandled elsewhere) and completed the two upper extractions without incident. Everything was explained clearly, handled with grace, and done with the kind of care and integrity you always hope for but don’t always find.
This was not our first positive experience with Joplin Oral Surgery—both of our daughters had their wisdom teeth removed here, and it was seamless each time. I’ve also recommended them to friends, and every single person has come back with glowing feedback. Now I can add my son’s story to that list.
If you’re looking for oral surgeons who are not only highly skilled but deeply professional and trustworthy, this is the team to see. They restored our peace of mind—and that is priceless.

VETERANS BEWARE!!! Stay far away if you are a veteran!! This place does not know how to follow contracts for VA Community Care patients. I was referred to Joplin Oral Surgeon for teeth pulling for dentures. I had an appointment August 20. I hear nothing for a while and decide to call the VA to get the ball rolling and figure out the problem on September 10, 2025. Get a call from Joplin Oral Surgeon and they have an opening. Show up September 17th to do the surgery, and among other issues, as to the specifics on which teeth were supposed to be pulled, the office did not follow procedures for VA referrals and did not have the medicine for the procedure, in which they are required to send for approval. I canceled the appointment until I can figure out what is going on. Apparently they had also screwed up some information on the back end (paperwork) and the. come to find out that this office decided to no longer care to work on me. Nothing else was said to this office from me after I cancelled the procedure. The VA should revoke their contract with this company that has no decorum or care for veterans!!

If your teenager or child has sooner care out of Oklahoma do not go here. We were referred by my daughters regular dentist in Miami OK. Consult and surgery appointments weren't as far a part as some reviews but the dentist didn't say a word to my daughter before he started the surgery according to her. I wasn't in the room. After surgery went to fill her meds and no can do. They say they can't send a script e script across state lines for a narco and no pharmacy in Joplin can fill a script with sooner care not accepted in MO. Luckily her regular dentist who sent her there is willing to fill all the scripts. We couldn't even get them to give us a paper script to take to the pharmacy. This not only included her pain meds but also the antibiotics she is suppose to take after surgery. When I asked the office why they do surgery on sooner care patients if they can't get their meds filled they basically said that's not their problem. If you can't make sure the patient gets their meds they you shouldn't performing the surgery

The people at the clinic are nice and professional. Even when an old soldier has an anxiety attack, rips out his i.v. and leaves quickly. They should have at least charged me for an office visit for wasting their time. They shredded the $3600 check. I apologize profusely to all concerned. Guess I can not be off my meds for long enough to have the surgery. Again, these people are good
Folks.

Hadn't been to the dentist in yrs, I was very nervous. I needed to have a broken wisdom tooth extracted and the staff and nurses were so kind and let me know everything that was about to happen. The lady who put the IV in was so good I barely even felt it. Dr. Matt Sheffer came in and started the anesthesia I I was out in seconds. Woke up what seemed like seconds later. It took 5 mins. to take the tooth out. And it was over. Its day 2 and I've had absolutely no pain. The first day my jaw felt stiff and slightly swollen took a Tylenol and no other issues. I definitely will recommend this dentist.
