Bisi has been my hygienist for several years. I see her every 3 months, and she always does a thorough deep cleaning of my teeth. She is very astute in her assessment of my overall oral health. For example, on 2 occasions she observed hidden cavities that I certainly didn't realize existed since I had no discomfort. Each time one of the physicians verified her findings. When necessary, Bisi points out areas of my mouth that need a little increased attention at home. She is always pleasant and personable and very gentle. Bisi is an asset to the wonderful staff of Dr. Karl Smith.

I recently had a periodontal appointment at Dr. Karl A. Smith’s office in Alexandria for a deep cleaning, and I could not be happier with my experience. From the moment I walked into the office, I was greeted with friendly smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. The front desk staff were efficient and made check-in smooth, which set a positive tone for my visit.
My hygienist Bisi was professional and knowledgeable and took the time to explain every step of the process, answered all my questions with patience, and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the procedure, including providing me with a warm blanket. I genuinely appreciated her attention to detail and the personalized care I received. My treatment went smoothly and painlessly, and I left feeling reassured about my progress and future appointments.
Overall, this was by far one of the best dental visits I have had. I highly recommend this practice to anyone seeking top-notch care in a friendly and professional environment.

Ms. Bisi, Dental Hygienist is the consummate professional. She epitomizes outstanding patient care and customer service. Like most people I typically dread doctor and dental visits but I look forward to my quarterly maintenance appointments with Ms. Bisi. She takes great care and makes you feel like family. Awesome Hygienist. I always look forward to my next appointment.

Dr. Smith and his team are experts at what they do, but they also do everything with professionalism and kindness. I've been a patient for almost 3 years now. Bisi has given me the best teeth cleanings I've ever received in my life. She is both meticulous and gentle which is the perfect combination. And Dr. Smith has managed my to keep my dental problems from not only getting worse but improving. I feel very lucky to have found them and can't recommend them enough.

Karl A. Smith, DDS, LLC is a periodontal and dental implant practice located at 2500 North Van Dorn Street, Suite 128 in Alexandria, Virginia, with a second office in Waldorf, Maryland. Dr. Karl Smith opened his Alexandria office in January 2003 and practices as a periodontist, a dentist who focuses on the gums and the bone that supports the teeth. Meet the Doctors
Dr. Karl A. Smith, DDS, leads the practice. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and began his career in general practice with the United States Air Force Dental Corps before completing three additional years of advanced specialty training in periodontics. He received further training in intravenous sedation and dental implants at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center, and won the John Pritchard Prize for research. Dr. Smith retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1996 and has been in dental practice for more than three decades. He also holds a Master of Business Administration with a Certificate in Health Services Management. He completes more than 100 hours of continuing education each year and is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology, the International Team for Implantology, the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, and is a past president of the Virginia Society of Periodontists.
