Two days after having my wisdom teeth removed, I noticed a fairly significant chip on the front/top of my canine tooth. When I called to ask about it, they confidently explained—without ever seeing the tooth—that I must have chipped it myself while numb. Apparently, because I woke up five times during the procedure and was therefore heavily sedated, I somehow managed to chip it myself on gauze, pudding, milkshakes, etc. Impressively, they also assured me that although my wisdom teeth were only an inch or two away, they went “nowhere near” my canine teeth, so it definitely couldn’t have been caused by an instrument.

I had an especially traumatic experience in a dental chair 30 yrs ago, making it nearly impossible for me to even walk into a dental office without shaking and crying, since. I'm so thankful to have found this office, where the entire staff listened to my fears, patiently talked me through them, and successfully extracted/grafted my tooth (iv sedation). I couldn't believe how calm I was, going back for my re-check appointment, and I actually look forward to completing the implant process.

I recently had a tooth extracted by Dr. Delgado and his team, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the care I received. From start to finish, everyone made me feel comfortable, informed, and genuinely cared for. Dr. Delgado was incredibly professional and calming — he explained everything clearly before the procedure and made the actual extraction quick and nearly painless. Anna, who assisted during the removal, was so kind and attentive, helping me stay relaxed throughout. Kimberly at the front desk was also wonderful — friendly, organized, and made the check-in and follow-up process easy and stress-free. Dental procedures can be intimidating, but this team made it a smooth, reassuring experience. I truly felt like I was in the best hands. Thank you all for your exceptional care!

The staff at Capital District Oral Surgeons is professional and kind. My extraction was surprisingly gentle. Dr. Delgado worked patiently and carefully. The staff communicated clearly and politely to the doctor, each other and with patients. The gentle humor used in the office set me at ease. The atmosphere and attention given at the Latham Office speak of care, organization, and confidence. I appreciate the effort the team puts into making the whole experience smooth and positive. Thank you.

From the first call the representative was so helpful (wish I could remember her name) to walking in the door of the Latham office Kim and Andrea were so welcoming. Noelle was a gem from the first visit and was wonderful during my daughter’s surgery. My daughter said Amy was great at putting in her IV and super sweet. Dr. Delgado was great. Everyone in the office has been so kind, helpful and made my daughter feel comfortable. Thank you and I will make sure to recommended you to others. Jen

About Latham Oral Surgery – Capital District Oral Surgeons

Capital District Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons serves patients from its Latham, New York office at 11 Century Hill Drive, Suite 200, one of two locations alongside the practice's Albany office on Southwoods Boulevard. The practice describes itself as a full-scope oral surgery practice, and dental implants are a core part of what it offers. According to the practice's website, implants can replace a single missing tooth, several teeth, or a whole arch when paired with an implant-supported crown, bridge, or denture, and the surgeons assess the health of the gums and jawbone at the consultation to confirm there is enough structure to support an implant. When needed, bone grafting, sinus lifts, ridge augmentation, and socket preservation are available to build up the foundation before implant placement. The team also works closely with each patient's referring dentist on the treatment plan.

Beyond implants, the Latham office provides tooth extractions including wisdom teeth, full-mouth reconstruction, pre-prosthetic surgery, apicoectomy, crown lengthening, gum contouring, impacted canine treatment, facial trauma care, and oral pathology and biopsies. The practice states that its surgeons use laser surgery techniques, advanced surgical monitoring systems, and 3D digital imaging in diagnosis and treatment planning, and it offers intravenous sedation, nitrous oxide, and oral conscious sedation. The Latham facility has five treatment rooms and a reception area for patients and the people accompanying them, and the practice says it maintains strict infection control procedures. Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 AM to 4 PM and Friday from 8 AM to 2 PM.

Meet the Doctors

The practice's website names Dr. Luis Delgado as the surgeon providing complete oral surgery services from the Latham location. He is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who earned his doctorate in dental medicine and his oral and maxillofacial surgery certificate from the University of Puerto Rico, completed a fellowship in orthognathic (jaw) surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital, and is a Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. The site says he sees patients in Latham on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays and in Albany on Tuesdays. The practice's broader clinical team, all listed on the website as board-certified oral surgeons, also includes Dr. Stephen DeMarco, a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry and Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany; Dr. Diego Miron, a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery who has served the Albany area for over 15 years; Dr. Charles Dermody, who has more than 40 years of experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery and trained at Columbia University and New York Medical College; and Dr. Mark Goodenough, who holds both dental and medical doctorates, earned his dental degree from the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and completed a six-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at New York City Health and Hospitals/Kings County.
