My husband recently had all on four implant surgery @ Dr. Sanger’s office on 17th street in Bakersfield. In his opinion the entire surgery process went flawlessly. Not sure about anyone else’s experience, but his surgery took ~2.5 hrs total. He said the “amazing” part to him was that he experienced zero pain from start to finish as of his 1st week’s checkup and that he only needed to take the ibuprofen to control swelling. Dr. Sangers staff of 4 (including an exceptional anesthesiologist) were very professional and efficient in their individual roles. We hope and expect the remainder of the entire implant process to be as high of quality as this initial phase.

The Dr is really nice, however I was completely over charged for the work I had done. I had a deep cleaning and one implant and paid over 9k with 3 insurances. I asked for an itemized receipt and the costs don’t add up, and the work they said they charged for doesn’t make sense either. They demand all payments up front. My husband had work done as well and still had to pay out of pocket for his services. I find it funny that he had a credit on his account of $1100 but that’s the balance I owed. The office just seems like a scam when it comes to the work that’s being done and what they charge the insurance. The billing girl Tiffany always sounded annoyed when I called and asked what I was being charged for and what my insurances would cover. I won’t be back and neither will my husband.

**Deceptive Billing Practices & Unprofessional Staff**
My husband's experience with Martha H. Sanger, DDS, Inc. has been incredibly disappointing due to their dishonesty, unethical billing practices, and lack of professionalism.
From his very first visit, he felt uncomfortable due to their relentless focus on payment and insurance rather than his actual dental care. The staff repeatedly asked about payment to the point of harassment, making it clear that their priority was getting paid—not patient well-being.
Things only got worse when my husband waited over an hour without being seen. When he finally decided to leave, two staff members told him he would be charged $75. However, when I followed up, Susie completely changed the story, now claiming he would be charged $400; $200 per hour for his scheduled procedure. She even lied, stating the dentist personally informed my husband of this charge, which never happened.
After choosing to switch to another dentist, we were met with hostility and disrespect from the staff—something no patient should have to endure. A dental office should treat patients professionally regardless of their choices, yet that was clearly not the case here.
To make matters worse, they pre-charged $8,000 to our credit lending company two days before the scheduled procedure, a practice we believe to be fraudulent and completely unethical. Patients should never be financially trapped or pressured before receiving treatment.
When I called to inform them my husband had chosen another dentist and requested a refund, I mentioned my concern about them charging the full amount upfront. I was simply told that it was their policy and that I would receive a refund—no mention of any cancellation fees. Yet, when they eventually processed the refund, they withheld $400 without any prior notice or explanation.
This level of dishonesty and manipulation is completely unacceptable, especially in healthcare. Patients deserve transparency, respect, and ethical treatment, yet this office has shown they prioritize money over integrity.
I strongly urge others to stay far away from this practice. I regret ever trusting them with my dental care and finances.

I went in today for a consultation for tooth #23 implant, and so far it was an amazing experience from the front staff like Gabby and Suzie to the back staff like Sandra and the great doctor. Very welcoming, caring, helpful, patient, and took their time to answer all my questions plus informed of the whole process. Next week I go back in for my tooth extraction and the start of the implant process. I did my research, before finding and choosing this great Dental work office, and I am very happy with my choice. I usually don't write reviews unless it is well deserved or the latter, this time it was a very well deserved 5 star review!

Amazing job very pleased with the results ,only needed one pain pill and everything was good.happy with the results .really nervous at first.it wasn’t too bad. Dr and staff was great
