I'll start by saying...I (like most) Hate going to the dentist. From an early age, I was subject to Dentists, orthodontists, Oral Surgeons & Periodontists due to not having great teeth/gums right outta' the gate. So naturally, when I got older, I did Not keep up on my dental care. I brushed my teeth & flossed here & there, thinking that was good enough. Well let me tell you, when you're born with an unfortunate disposition, it is Not enough.
After developing a pain in my mouth in my mid 30's, I decided to call Missih dental after hearing about a friend of mine who had gone to him. My 1st appointment went as expected..I was told I have aggressive gum disease. Not normally seen in people my age. I think everyone there was more surprised about this than I was. But after having to have gum surgery even as a young child, this did not shock me at all. He said I may need surgery again but for the time being, we were just going to do a deep clean & put a preventive plan into place & go from there. It's been well over a year now, maybe even 2 since I've been going to Missih. I go every 3 months for cleaning & check-ups & my situation has improved tremendously. Everyone at the Johnson City location is super nice & it's just a calm & relaxed environment.
I highly suggest this dentistry to anyone who is not comfortable with going to the dentist. I mean, let's be real, it still sucks. But! the team at Missih makes it a little more tolerable. 馃檪

I've been coming here for a few years. The services are great; I don't understand the complaints from others when it comes to that. Missih himself is super knowledgeable and kind. I docked 1 star because they're weirdly hard to get ahold of. The phone seems to ring and ring and ring (with no machine) more often than it should.

Horrible practice. Impossible to schedule with. After setting an appointment with them, they failed to put it on the books properly. Had me come into the office in the morning and afternoon and then rescheduled me again for 3pm but then cancelled again. They bill to establish care and then refuse services. Will be filing a complaint for fraud with the New York State Dental Association.

Dr. Missih is an excellent dentist. He thoroughly explained my implant procedure before I decided to get two implants to anchor a full lower denture. I had many questions before and during the process (it takes months for the implants to integrate into the jaw bone). He always took the time to answer my questions so that I felt confident about what was happening. I never felt rushed as he was very patient, positive and cheerful. (I discovered that he has a good sense of humor.) I would recommend him to anyone seeking dental care.

If I could leave no stars I would. I have been a patient here for years and I happened to be on a business trip out of state and was unable to make a few appointments. They dismissed me as a customer with all of the time and money spent there. Also, all of the fillings Dr. Missih had done on my teeth had to be redone by another dentist. They do not last. Avoid this place, they will screw you over.

About Missih Dental Care & Periodontics
Missih Dental Care & Periodontics serves patients at its Johnson City office at 355 Riverside Drive, one of the practice's locations in the Johnson City and Elmira, New York area. The practice describes itself as a family dentistry and offers services ranging from family and general dentistry to sedation dentistry and cosmetic dentistry, along with emergency dental care for patients who need to be seen quickly. It also states that it has a periodontal dentist on staff to handle cases on site and that dental implants are offered at each of its locations.
For patients considering dental implants, the practice's website explains that its periodontal dentist evaluates the gums to determine whether someone is a good candidate for the procedure, and that a dentist may recommend an implant when a tooth has been lost in an accident, a cavity is beyond repair, or a permanent tooth never formed. New patients at the Johnson City office can expect an initial visit that includes x-rays and a consultation explaining the diagnosis and treatment options, followed by a cleaning appointment with a hygienist and any needed follow-up. The office accepts cash, personal checks, debit cards, and most major credit cards, and notes that it does not participate in New York State sponsored or Medicaid plans.
