The Missoula Oral Surgery team is FANTASTIC. I never leave reviews unless I had a superior experience or feel the need to direct people elsewhere, and after having emergency tooth extractions (3 teeth), I left feeling like I needed to leave this review. I am deathly afraid of the dentist...I'd rather wrestle with a Grizzly bear than have any dental work done, due to malpractice (ended up with sepsis) at a dental practice in Bozeman many years ago (about 15 or so). For that reason, I have to be in excruciating pain before I'll even step foot in a dental office. With all of that said, I've had problems with a couple teeth on my lower right side, and a lingering infection in one of those teeth that 2 rounds of antibiotics didn't fully treat...long story short, I went into a dentist to find out how to tackle this infection, who immediately sent me to Dr. Wiswell for extraction due to the severity of the infection(sending my anxiety through the roof)...the referring dental office, knowing my dentist phobia, warned me to not take it personally if Dr, Wiswell seemed short, and to the point as he gets a lot of emergency referrals (me being one of them) and probably won't have a lot of time to sit with me and calm my nerves, but that he means well and is a fantastic surgeon. Having been told that, I didn't expect much interaction with him...but WOW! I was so pleasantly surprised...his nurses got me all settled, and I wish I remembered the name of the one that was with me the most, but she was an angel. Dr Wiswell was in another surgery that went longer than expected, so I had to wait for a while before he was able to come in and take care of my teeth, and she brought me a blanket, and checked in on me multiple times, making me feel so welcome. Once Doc came in, he introduced himself, and was so respectful, easy to talk to, and had a calm demeanor, making me feel so much more comfortable. He even had a sense of humor, which most docs don't. Anyway, he treated me so well, calming my nerves by explaining everything he would be doing, and told me my only job was to sleep 😴 which I can handle lol. I would hands down recommended him to anyone, but especially to anyone with dental anxiety...you're in great hands with the team there!!!

I had a very good experience with my Dr. and his staff. They made me feel very comfortable with my surgical procedure and I've been healing quickly. They were all very kind and considerate and I'm glad Dr. Miltco chose them for the surgery, he is also very good. Thank you.

Dr. Wiswell. BEST Medical Provider we have ever encountered! He is an expert in his field. He has the best bedside manner. He takes exceptionally great care of his patients (myself and three kids). To top it off, he also has the BEST support staff. Thank you will never be enough for the care you have shown to myself and our children.

Usually any dental place has mid reviews either because they are actually bad or a disproportionate amount of angry people leave bad reviews because of poor medical situations. I was very nervous about my procedure and was shocked to see such a high rating on google for this place. It really lives up to it, everyone there made me feel more at ease than family and friends (which might say something about my relationships, but still.) The procedure went great and have been given amazing support after the fact. I genuinely have no complaints.

Had to get an extraction done and every single staff member was unparalleled in their kindness and professionalism. Best dentist experience either of us have ever had, cannot recommend enough.

Meet the Doctors

Missoula Oral Surgery is led by Dr. Grant M. Wiswell, D.D.S., M.D., a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Wiswell earned his M.D. from the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine, completed a general surgery internship at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, received his D.D.S. from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, and completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Michigan, graduating as chief resident. He is licensed as both a physician and a dentist, has served on medical missions in Ecuador, Colombia, and Mexico, and is fluent in Spanish.
