No one hopes for a tooth extraction, but from day one, this was one of the most pleasant dental/medical experiences I have ever had. Dr. Adamec explained all my options and possible risks; front office is friendly and upbeat, as were his nurses/surgical assistants. All were patient with my many questions throughout the process(began August 2025, last appointment April 2026) of placing a dental implant. On top of all that, my impression is that the total practice operates as a team that genuinely enjoys working together. I highly recommend!

I was treated very nice when I came In. A nurse came out and gave me a pill to relax me for extracting wisdom tooth. 15 minutes later she came and got me. My appointment was 1030. The Nurse said to sit down and lay back in the chair. That’s all I remember until 4 o’clock in the afternoon. they treated me fantastic thank you very much. I have had no pain whatsoever.

After my procedure, I was discharged without any post-operative instructions, discharge paperwork, written recovery guidelines, or gauze other than the one placed in my mouth directly after the extraction. I was not provided with information regarding bleeding control, pain management, diet restrictions, oral hygiene, activity limitations, expected healing, or warning signs of complications. Being sent home without these basic post-operative materials and instructions left me uncertain about how to properly care for the extraction site. Additionally, when I contacted the office, I felt that my concerns were treated dismissively. Rather than receiving clear guidance and support, I was made to feel as though I was inconveniencing the staff by asking reasonable questions related to my recovery. I was also given conflicting information by different members of the care team, including information that differed from what I understood from the surgeon. This inconsistency created confusion and reduced my confidence in the instructions I was receiving. My concern is not only the lack of discharge information and supplies, but also the overall communication and patient support provided after the procedure. Patients should leave a surgical office with clear written instructions, appropriate post-operative supplies, and confidence that their questions will be addressed professionally during recovery. I do not believe that standard was met in my case. I am completely dissatisfied and disappointed with my experience.

North Florida Oral & Facial Surgery – Dr. Scott Sklenicka Office: North Florida Oral & Facial Surgery 2511 St. Johns Bluff Rd., Suite 207 Jacksonville, FL 32246 Prior to my appointment on April 1, 2026, I called the office to schedule the removal of two wisdom teeth with Dr. Scott Sklenicka. During that call, I specifically requested that the office obtain a contracted fee quote through my dental insurance before my appointment. I was assured this would be completed. When I arrived, the office visit and x-rays were billed at my insurance company's contracted rate. However, the two wisdom tooth extractions were charged at an out-of-network rate of $480 per tooth, even though I had already provided my insurance information and explained that my insurance pays 80% of the contracted amount. After the procedure, I contacted my insurance company and learned that the doctor's office had never contacted them to obtain a contracted fee quote, despite assuring me they would do so. I was also told the office needed to submit the claim to my medical insurance before billing my dental insurance. That did not appear to happen as described, as both claims were effectively processed at the same time. Additionally, the dental claim was delayed because the office submitted post-operative x-rays instead of the pre-operative x-rays typically required by the insurance company for extraction claims. Resolving these billing issues took weeks rather than days. I made several phone calls and left multiple messages requesting that the office manager contact me. On May 15, 2026, I personally delivered my Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to the office. During that visit, the office manager stated that she believed the information had already been sent to the insurance company but acknowledged that no follow-up had occurred. After she contacted the insurance company, the matter was finally resolved. Although the insurance payment was issued to the office approximately two weeks later, it took more than another month before I finally received my reimbursement. What I Learned • Verify that the office has obtained your insurance company's contracted fee quote before your appointment. If they have not, consider postponing the procedure or finding another provider. • Understand your insurance benefits. Many insurance companies provide online cost estimators that allow you to estimate your out-of-pocket expenses before treatment. • Review every Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and compare it with what the provider charges. If you are owed a refund and are not receiving timely updates, file a grievance with your insurance company. • Know your rights under Florida law. Florida has consumer protections regarding timely refunds and the improper retention of patient overpayments. If you believe a provider has violated these requirements, you can research the applicable regulations and file a complaint with the appropriate agency if warranted. This review reflects my personal experience and is intended to help other patients avoid similar billing and insurance issues.

This office is amazing the doc Adam and his assistant Rachael made me feel so comfortable and always made sure I was okay through the procedure and even after. I highly recommend this office to anyone who needs dental work!
