Let me start this with… Dr. Y and her dental hygienist are phenomenal. They are great with children and don’t judge -at least to our faces. If I could review them alone- 5 stars!!! Here’s why the one star review… the office staff is terrible. They called multiple times prior the appointment to reschedule the time. Once two weeks prior, then the Friday before (a Monday appointment) and to really add to the fire, On the day of our 4 o clock appointment they called at 8:27am, 10:01am, 10:22, 2:10pm to ask if we could come in earlier than 4pm. They also called at 10:38am to tell me they lost our insurance information and I needed to resend it. I was pulled from my job every time to take these phone calls from them. The office staff is unprofessional. At 2:57pm I called to speak with the office manager about this situation… she laughed it off and said this was a mistake and apologized, but said this is not common practice. Now… I go to leave a review to find out, this is absolutely common practice for this office staff. Which is a real shame because the doctor is amazing with kids.

My daughter was seen in October due to needing a spacer. At that appointment they said the soonest available to place the spacer would be January 30th which was canceled two hours before the appointment time “per the dentist.” They pushed the appointment back 3 weeks. We went to the appointment today and was told out of pocket would be $263. I asked multiple times if the lady was certain because we have 2 insurances, to which she said she checked 3 times and it was showing the same amount but she said that if insurance did cover it, I’d be refunded. I reluctantly paid it and sat down, only to be called back up to the window and was told by the same lady (whom was laughing at this point), “my bad. It is covered so we’ll refund the money.” The dental assistant called my daughter back but stopped us at the door and asked if she would be okay going back on her own because my younger daughter was with us and wasn’t allowed to be back there for the procedure. My child isn’t even 10 years old, there are adults that are nervous about going to the dentist and they’re expecting her to be okay with being away from her mom? I reassured my kiddo she’d be okay then the door shut. We sat back down and I could hear 2 other patients talking to each other about us not being permitted in the back and how wrong that was. About 10 mins goes by and I get called to the back, I asked if my younger daughter could come, too. She said yes, we got back to the room where the dentist was sitting next to my daughter. She informed me that her filling fell out and asked if I wanted her to fix it today or schedule for another time for it. I said we’d do it now because I don’t want her to miss more school and me miss more work. The dentist looked irritated and said they’d have to move her to a different area for that and asked if she’d be okay without me or if I needed to stay but she looked perturbed so I said she’d be okay and again I reassured her that she’s a brave girl. My youngest and I went back to the lobby only to be called back about 15 mins later! We were pulled to the back lobby area and I was told by the irritated dental assistant that they weren’t going to be able to work on her today because she wouldn’t relax enough with the nitrous and they couldn’t do it without it. She the told me they were referring her to a different dentist in either Wichita Falls or OKC so that she could be sedated. They don’t know my child’s health history and she’s not able to be sedated. I took all of this as a sign to find another dentist so I snatched the referral paperwork from her and we left. This place is set up as a pediatric dentist, although I am aware they see children and adults. You’d think they’d have patience to work with children, especially those that CLEARLY have anxiety. I’ll be contacting our insurance companies and informing them of what happened so they don’t try to bill them for services not rendered, you know, anything to get some sort of payment. Save yourself and your family. Don’t schedule at this office!!

We are Dec 30th 2025 and my mom had appt 12/31/225 10am. So they called and said they had to reschedule because they wouldnt have a dental assistant 10am. So the the next available appt would be September 14th 2026. Now this is the 3rd time we have had to reschedule because of issues they have. Time to look else where with better service and care.

Took my kids here and the dentist looked at me and scolded ME because my son had cavities and then turned around and had to take my kids into a different dentist for root canals on every tooth they filled due to ocean dental drilling into their nerves. Not to mention several extractions. I don’t know how they have 4.1 stars when they shouldn’t be over a 2*

This office is so unprofessional. Every time when it’s time for my son’s scheduled appointment they will call me and tell me that they need to reschedule because the dentist is leaving early or they don’t have enough staff. They have done this 3 times and each time , they reschedule the appointment Months away. We Had an appointment today and they called and said they could not see him until May of 2026…MAY 2026…today is September 17th, 2025….Then when I said that was too far away, she said “ Well do you just want me to take him off the schedule”…Do better Ocean Dental!!
