I just wanted to leave a quick review and say how wonderful my experience was with Oral Surgery of Tidewater. From the moment I walked in, everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and reassuring. I was honestly nervous beforehand, but the entire staff made me feel so comfortable and at ease throughout the process. Even while waiting, the environment felt calm and comforting instead of stressful.
The team was professional, patient, and genuinely caring, and it really made such a difference. Thank you all for making what could have been an overwhelming experience feel smooth and manageable. I truly appreciate everyone’s kindness and care!

The process was seamless start to finish. Worked well with insurance and laying out everything we were to expect from the procedure, to the billing and then the scheduling. Very nice staff. Made my child feel very comfortable during his procedure that he was very nervous about. I would highly recommend them for any future oral surgeries.

Dr Guter and everyone at OST is friendly and welcoming. They put you at ease and make you as comfortable as possible. I only had a small front tooth removed but it was quick and painless as I expected it would be.

My visit was very pleasant. I was greeted warmly by the reception staff when I arrived. The dental professional named Sydney always displays a very contagious positive attitude. Lastly, the dentist Dr Guter is super friendly. He makes you feel like you matter and he cares about your health. I don’t want to spend a lot of time here but I love it here. They do it right.

I was refered to OST from my dentist for a tooth extraction and follow on implant. I was thoroughly prepped with consultation prior to extraction procedure. Surgery went well and the process so far has been great. I am sceduled for implant targeting to fabricate jig for implant anchor in 4 months. Dr and staff have been informative caring and professional

Meet the Doctors
Oral Surgery of Tidewater is home to three oral surgeons: Melvin L. Ford III, DDS, Klaus D. Guter, DDS, and Shaun B. Rai, DMD. Dr. Ford has been a partner with the practice since 1995. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the Medical College of Virginia and completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the U.S. Air Force Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, and has served as assistant clinical professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Guter joined the practice in 2001 after completing his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at the Navy hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia, following dental school at The Ohio State University. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, and previously directed the Division of Oral Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Rai, who holds a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, completes the surgical team and brings additional depth to the practice's oral and facial surgery care.
