After complications with a poorly placed dental implant on Hawai‘i Island that never integrated and caused gum recession and bone loss, I sought help from Periodontal Specialists of Hawai‘i. Dr. Yim carefully evaluated my case, confirmed the implant had failed, and recommended removal with bone graft and collagen repair to allow proper healing.
His findings were consistent with the X-rays and photos, and he even offered to provide a detailed report to help me pursue a refund from provider for the inadequate $5,500 treatment I originally received.
If you’re considering periodontal care or dental implants, this practice is outstanding. Do your research and choose providers carefully, your health depends on it!

Completely satisfied with the service. The team is very courteous and professional. Dr. Yim is detailed and explains and walks you through every step of the process. He does excellent work.

It was a long journey with Dr Ryan Yim as my dental work was extensive. From the start I was put at ease and given hope of a positive outcome. The office staff and dental assistants are genuinely helpful and caring. Dr Yim is knowledgeable and so reassuring that I felt safe trusting him with the dental work I needed. He is a kind and compassionate person who cares for your overall wellbeing. Thank you Dr Yim.

Dr. Yim is the BEST!! He was highly recommended to me by a dentist and I’m glad I saw him. I was a little worried about my gum procedure at first but he is so friendly, knowledgeable, and caring that it put me at ease. He answered all of my questions in easy to understand language and didn’t make me feel rushed and because he took his time answering all of my questions and was friendly about it, it made me feel like he cared about me. He did a really good job on my procedure and did it quickly and painlessly. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Yim!!

When I was first referred to this office, I was very hesitant. I Told the receptionist I was nervous because of a childhood trauma event at a dentist appointment, and she recommended Dr. yim immediately. Upon my first meeting, I explained to Dr, Yim my childhood trauma. I shared with him that during a dental appointment when I was five years old, I, experienced a lot of pain, swallowed the tooth, and ended up in the hospital. That trauma had never left me and kept me definitely afraid of Dentists. Upon hearing my concerns, Doctor Yim shared the different types of numbing that he would be using. He said that he would be using ice as an extra precautionary to make sure that I felt as little pain as possible. Much to my absolute shock and delight, I can honestly say I experienced no pain at all. Absolutely zero. He gave me a choice of different treatments and I chose the one I was most comfortable with after he gave me all the information I needed. He was kind, caring and sensitive. He was honest and most importantly, highly knowledgeable answering all of my many questions thoroughly. This was a completely painless appointment and I can truthfully say anyone would be absolutely delighted at their dental experience at this office. If you are a traumatized or sensitive patient like I am, make sure to come to this doctor if you ever need periodontic care. You will not regret it.
