I visited Pleasant Valley Smiles Studio today and was honestly so impressed from start to finish. The entire team had such great energy — everyone was friendly, welcoming, and made me feel completely comfortable.
The dentist was amazing. He really took the time to get to know me, asked about my occupation, and genuinely cared about my overall health. He even asked thoughtful questions about my migraines and offered helpful insights and possible solutions. It’s rare to find a dentist who looks at the whole picture and cares beyond just your teeth.
The office is new, clean, and has a great atmosphere. You can tell they’re passionate about what they do and truly enjoy helping people feel their best.
I’m really glad I chose this office and definitely recommend them to anyone in Winchester or nearby!

My first appointment was today and I had a great experience! The place is set up so nice and I loved the atmosphere. I’ve honestly never had a dentist go over my teeth the way that Dr April Kern did. She was very thorough and went over everything with me more than any other dentist has. I felt so comfortable talking with her and happy with the outcome. I recommend them to everyone!

Staff were friendly and professional, the venue was clean and modern. I particularly liked the detail of the scans of my teeth, which allowed me to see for myself my true dental condition. I was also presented with care options, to which I was again pleasantly surprised. This was my initial visit, and based on this experience I feel confident and comfortable with Pleasant Valley Smile Studio providing my dental care.

😬 I came in with real anxiety from a previous deep cleaning at another office, but Dr. Rayek completely put those fears to rest with such grace and care. What started as an early-morning appointment for a simple cleaning for my son turned into an incredible experience for our whole family. Dr. Rayek and his staff were amazing with my son, making him feel comfortable, confident, and excited about taking care of his teeth. 🦷
Although I needed a deep cleaning myself and hadn’t planned on doing it that day, they went out of their way to fit me in that afternoon. The level of care, patience, and professionalism Dr. Rayek showed while treating my teeth and preparing me for Invisalign was far beyond anything I’ve experienced at a dental office. He took the time to talk with me about my job, explained everything honestly and clearly, and made me feel like I had been a longtime patient.
This is truly the only dentist I trust to care for my family’s teeth. 🦷 ❤️ 🪥

First appointment went great! Staff is very helpful, personable, and knowledgeable. Dr. Kern seemed very genuine and explained her exam notes and recommendations with images that allowed me to understand what was going on. Highly recommend :)

Pleasant Valley Smile Studio is a family dental practice at 2605 South Pleasant Valley Road, Suite 100, in Winchester, Virginia. Established in 2025, the office describes itself as a modern practice in the heart of Winchester that offers general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry for patients of all ages. Restorative services include dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, fillings, and root canals. For patients missing all of their teeth, the practice offers full mouth restorations using five or six implants in a jaw to support a non-removable, titanium hybrid denture, an approach it refers to as all-on-5 or all-on-6.
Beyond implants, the practice provides Invisalign clear aligners, dental cleanings and periodontal care, teeth whitening, veneers, sleep apnea treatment, and emergency care, along with a range of laser and facial cosmetic treatments. Patients who are anxious about dental visits can ask about sedation dentistry, which the practice offers in oral pill form and, for deeper sedation, in partnership with board certified anesthesiologists from the Horizon Anesthesia Group. The office is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, offers third-party financing and an in-house membership plan for patients without insurance, and says it uses plain language so every patient understands the state of their oral health and what needs to be done.
Meet the Doctors
The practice's dentists are Dr. April Kern, DMD, and Dr. Riaz Rayek, DDS, MS. Dr. Kern earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine from Nova Southeastern University and completed a General Practice Residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. She is a 2024 Diamond PLUS, Top 1% Invisalign provider, a Board Member and Fellow of the American Academy of Clear Aligners, a National Speaker for Align Technology, and a member of the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry, among other organizations. Dr. Rayek earned a Master's degree in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University and graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 2001. He has practiced in the DC and Northern Virginia area for more than 20 years, placed his first dental implant in 2002, and reports having placed more than 10,000 implants. He also serves on the board of directors of the American Academy of Clear Aligners, has a special interest in obstructive sleep apnea, and holds five US patents for sleep apnea appliances.
