I was nervous and anxious to go back to the dentist after several years of not seeing one. I nailed it by selecting River City. Dr Clemons and his staff are the best! They're relaxed, kind, informative, positive, considerate and made me feel right at home both times I've seen them in the last month. I can't believe I didn't go sooner. I think a lot of people envision seeing a dentist as a dreadful activity but it's never like that in real life. At River City Dental... I can't believe I'm saying this about dentistry... I actually ENJOYED it!

Great experience every time. I have been coming to River City Dental for little over 8 years. They take great care of my family. When we arrive the receptionists know us by name. The team answers all my questions and concerns, take their time, never felt rushed through an appointment. Dr. Clemons has me on a great care plan that works. The hygienists are friendly and not too rough with cleanings. They explain their findings and give recommendations and suggestions. No complaints here. I highly recommend.

The staff is always so kind, welcoming, and professional. The office is very clean and has such a calm, relaxing atmosphere, which makes visits easy and stress-free. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a friendly and trustworthy dental office!

Hands down the best office around. You’re instantly welcomed with smiling faces. I started my dental journey with terrible teeth and low confidence, Dr Deardorff and his team have been there to help and reassure the entire journey. Couldn’t be happier!

I left my first visit at River City Dental Care thinking, “these are stellar human beings, one and all, in a stellar dental practice”. From Dr. Clemons himself, to the dental assistant, the dental hygienist, to the front desk person, I was greatly impressed with each- their care and patience, their knowledge, their professionalism and their kindness. My diagnosis was mildly traumatic for me- both regarding the issue, and with my particular insurance carrier, and they went the extra yard to explain my various options, for which I felt truly grateful. A person-centered office, in the very best ways! Thank you.

Meet the Doctors
River City Dental Care's clinical team includes Dr. Scott Clemons, D.D.S., and Dr. David Deardorff, D.M.D. Dr. Clemons earned a bachelor's degree from Luther College and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Iowa in 1993, then completed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program there in 1994. He owned a private practice in Iowa City from 1994 to 2012, served as an adjunct professor at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, and is a member of the American Dental Association and the Iowa Dental Association. His areas of expertise include cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign, crown and bridge, restoration of implants, and cosmetic bonding. Dr. Deardorff earned his dental degree from the University of Michigan and completed additional training as a general dentistry resident at the University of Michigan Hospital, treating patients in the clinic, emergency room, and operating room. He returned to Iowa City in 2020, and his areas of expertise include crown and bridge, restoration of implants, and Invisalign.
