I was very pleased with my visit. I hope to have a great future with your office as my new dentist. Everyone was very professional. I was relaxed and felt very welcomed. Looking forward to my visit on March 19, 2026.

The staff at Smile for Life are excellent! They are very caring and accommodating, and always find a way to fit me in, even on days with a tight schedule. My quality of life has been greatly improved thanks to the great work done here.

I wish I could give more stars— because the front desk and staff here are extremely kind and helpful, but Dr. Mooney has completely spoiled the office’s experience for me. My partner and I established care here recently and have only been in two times, both times with Dr Mooney. Our experiences with him were the same— he was rude and passive aggressive. Our hygienists who provided our cleanings, however, were kind, professional and polite. Today I came in for a filling, hopeful that I’d met Mooney on a bad day and would have a more pleasant interaction with him today. I get started by getting numb with Erin, who was extremely kind and thorough. I did mention to Erin that in the past it has taken a lot to numb me so we did two rounds of numbing before we got started with drilling. Erin mentioned the normal pressure I would feel when the drilling was happening and before getting started, Dr. Mooney told me to let him know if I felt any pain. While Dr. Mooney started drilling the cavity, he had gloves on but he did not have a mask on - I’d found it a little strange since he was going to be working on my mouth and Erin and Nancy (assistant) were both wearing one. While he was drilling, I felt the pressure that Erin mentioned and remained sitting still. Shortly after, the pressure changed to a hot/more painful feeling and I unfortunately had the natural reaction to jump and jerked my mouth. Dr Mooney pulled out and I told him I could feel it and it was hurting. Dr Mooney immediately told me to not move if I felt pain and to just raise my hand and to not move because it could make him drill where he is not supposed to— which I understood and apologized. After apologizing he repeated his previous statement which felt extremely passive aggressive considering I had just apologized for it. I felt like a child being scolded by a teacher. He quickly gave me some more lidocaine and he and Nancy left the room. I am thankful he gave me more since I needed the moment to compose myself after Dr. Mooney’s scolding and passive aggression towards me. They returned after a few minutes and I apologized again for moving my mouth. Dr. Mooney said he should have been more specific and told me to raise my hand. After that, he told me he’d “found it curious” that I couldn’t feel where he began drilling but that I felt it where he was drilling. I told him I could feel the pressure at first but once he hit that one spot it was no longer just pressure. He told me again that he thought it was curious, to which i replied yes well I am telling the truth. To which he replied, “i just find it curious”. When I finally had heard his statement enough times to get the feeling he was accusing me of lying i said “well I am not lying”. The conversation stopped and Dr. Mooney got going on my mouth, again without a mask. He finished up drilling pretty quickly after that and Erin completed the filling.
Going to the dentist can definitely be a nerve wracking thing for some people, so being able to make patients feel comfortable is a pretty important thing I look for when looking for a dentist and it’s something Dr. Mooney is clearly unable to do. It is unfortunate that we won’t be coming back, as mentioned the office staff is so kind but unfortunately we can’t move past the way we’ve been made to feel each time we’ve seen Dr. Mooney.
