I had oral surgery here yesterday to have four infected teeth extracted. When I first arrived, the front desk staff were welcoming and they got me in quickly. The easiest and most positive part of the whole experience was how quickly and pain-free they were able to place the IV and administer the anesthesia. I’m grateful that I was put under for the procedure.
However, once I got home and the anesthesia fully wore off, especially by dinner time, the pain became extremely severe. I later realized that the pain medication they prescribed contains acetaminophen, which I cannot take because my doctor has told me to avoid it due to how it affects my blood. Because of that, I can’t take the main medication that was supposed to help manage the pain.
Right now I’m dealing with intense pain in my mouth that radiates into my lymph nodes, ear, and throat. My face is very swollen from having four teeth cut out and extracted, and honestly I feel like I’m in worse pain now than I was when I went in with the infected teeth. The only thing I’ve been able to do is use ice packs and try Tylenol, but it hasn’t helped the pain at all. Even placing ice packs on my face hurts because of the swelling.
The pain has been so severe that I’ve had two panic attacks since the surgery because I struggle with anxiety, and the swelling in my throat and gums scared me. Each panic attack lasted over an hour and made me feel like my throat was closing up. At this point I’m considering going to urgent care because I cannot physically handle the level of pain I’m in.
I wish there had been more consideration for pain management options, especially for patients who cannot take certain medications. Right now I feel like I was left to deal with extremely severe pain with very limited options for relief. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this place.

I had my wisdom teeth removed here yesterday and I couldn't praise them enough or recommend them more. Genuinely some of the kindest and warmest people working there. They are also very open and up front about the costs of things to help you make the best decisions possible. Thank you to Dr. Levi Zarbano and the whole team here for making an experience that I was terrified about so good and calming.

I had nothing less than the best experience. The entire team were sweet and informative which provided me with a lot of comfort. I appreciated the recovery time with Kelly and same day check in call from Dr. Levi Zarbano before leaving office. 10 out of 10 would recommend this place to everyone!

I've never had oral surgery before and was a bit apprehensive about getting 2 teeth pulled. But the entire staff was very reassuring, every step of the way. When I wasn't sure what kind of anesthesia to use, Dr Z explained my options so that I could make an informed decision. I went with the nitrous oxide and the Novocaine and it turned out to be just what I needed. Dr Z also told me that because I was not completely asleep, he could tell me what was happening next and what he needed me to do a heck of a lot easier than if I was completely asleep. It was those little details that made for the experience to be really positive. Even the post op instructions were clearly explained. And, when I had concerns a few days later they made time for me to pop in. I hope I don't need their services again but, if I do, I can go back to SPOS with confidence

I had my wisdom teeth removed here and I can’t say enough good things about the entire team. From start to finish, everyone was so comforting and patient, especially when I had a moment of panic after the epinephrine injection. The back-of-house dental staff were incredible and really helped calm me down.
They were also very accommodating when I needed to change my original appointment, which I really appreciated. Dr. Z even called afterward to check on me, which meant a lot and showed how much they genuinely care about their patients.
A special shoutout to the tech who handled my discharge and aftercare instructions she was absolutely wonderful, reassuring, and made sure I fully understood everything before leaving.
Truly a 5-star experience. Highly recommend!

Meet the Doctors
St. Paul Oral Surgery is led by Dr. Levi Zarbano, DDS, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Dr. Zarbano grew up in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and earned a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from Wayne State College along with a certificate in medical laboratory science from St. Luke's College. He graduated from the University of Iowa with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2014, completed a general practice residency at Hennepin County Medical Center from 2014 to 2016, and then completed the University of Minnesota Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency in 2020. He joined St. Paul Oral Surgery immediately after finishing his training.
