The front desk staff were wonderful. The hygienist however was short with both me and my child (the patient), and was unnecessarily judgemental. Dr. Larsen barely acknowledged me or my child, was unnecessarily rough during the examination to the point where my child was squealing in pain, and was again unnecessarily judgemental. For an office that markets itself as "Family dentistry" it was the worst dental experience my child has gone through. I would particularly recommend against bringing children with dental apprehension or sensory needs here.

Dr. Larsen and his team are very professional and knowledgeable of daily oral health as well as complex restorative dentistry. My experience has been outstanding. Everyone is very personable and I appreciate their care and genuine concern for my comfort and good health!

Hygienist Beca did an amazing job — not only cleaning my teeth but also explaining everything she was doing and giving helpful advice on dental care. I’d definitely recommend this office; everyone was friendly, professional, and truly cared about their patients rather than just making money.

SUMMARY
I’ve been going to Dr. Larsen for several years now. Since you are reading this review and are likely searching for a new dentist who practices General Dentistry, my advice is to stop now and make an appointment with Dr. Larsen. He is by far the best dentist I’ve ever encountered.
Dr. Larsen’s dental hygienists are personable, gentle, and thorough. As for Dr. Larsen himself, who performs the exams and occasional filling or other dental interventions, he is honest (some dentists will lie to your face about finding a cavity to fill), and is extraordinarily meticulous in his craftsmanship so your fillings adhere well, are well-blended, and polished smooth.
DETAILS
As a now-retired mechanical engineer, I’ve been cared for by perhaps a dozen different dentists. Dentists, just as with professional engineers (those with P.E. licenses), attorneys, and physicians, come in a range of competencies that vary from true excellence to galactic incompetence—and even dishonesty. Just because they obtained their P.E. license, passed a bar exam, or received board certification, does not guarantee you will receive an “A+” standard of care; not by any stretch.
Dental practices, just like any business operating in a free-market economy, are a competition for efficiency, where second-rate outfits eventually perish. It is a semi-deep-dark secret within the dental community that some—a minority—dentists, struggling to keep their practices afloat off the pittances they receive from insurance companies who pay for “free” dental cleanings, will point to an X-ray and seemingly try to employ a Jedi Mind Trick to convince you that a normal looking wavy undulation in a molar is actually a cavity requiring an expensive filling. I once had this happen at a dentist who had TWELVE hygienists on his staff, all being reimbursed by insurance companies at less than it cost the dentist to employ them. The dentist even offered “free” paraffin wax bath treatments for your hands while they worked on you. I didn’t believe him. And another dentist shortly later confirmed I had no cavity, as did all other dentists since.
Dr. Larsen doesn’t pull these sort of stunts. If you DO require a filling, he then takes care to ensure you are properly numbed up—waiting longer if you aren’t—before commencing. Not all dentists are consistently thoughtful in this regard—especially when rushed.
Most important of all, rigorous attention to detail is required when placing composite fillings to ensure they adhere well (are long-lasting), are smoothly blended (for ease of flossing), and are polished well (so calculus doesn’t easily grow on them). I once noticed how Dr. Larsen was taking an unusually long time on a filling, and I commented on it. He replied along the lines of, “I want to do things right the first time around; I don’t like having to redo my own work.” That about sums up Dr. Larsen.

Carrie is the best...very gentle cleaning, but thorough. Dr. Larsen shows up for about 90 seconds to check my bite and my watchlist teeth. lol
