On a Sunday night, my son was at a wrestling tournament when he suffered a traumatic injury to his jaw and lower teeth. We rushed to the emergency room in Mason City, Iowa but they couldn't provide the specialized care he needed and had no on call dentist/oral surgeon there. Desperate, my husband and I spent hours calling for an on-call dentist. At 10 p.m., we heard back from Dr. Chen, who lived an hour away in from her practice- while we were in Mason City, lowa. Without hesitation, she drove an hour, and we drove two, just so she could meet us. Dr. Chen was a lifesaver. She worked quickly and saved my son's teeth, most likely preventing a permanent loss. She also saw him early that next morning since we are from Utah and stayed in an hotel. All of you who live in this city are incredibly lucky to have her as your dentist. Her compassion and professionalism gave us peace of mind during such a stressful time.There are not many people like this in the world today. I can't thank her enough for her dedication and care. She’s an amazing dentist and person. Thank you, Dr. Chen ❤️

10/10! Taylor was awesome at helping me feel comfortable at my first appointment and did an awesome job with cleaning my teeth. I have sensitive teeth at the bottom and she did an amazing job with making sure she was gentle and I felt little to no discomfort. My new Dr was also very knowledgeable and kind with explaining dental options for treatment. Will definitely be bringing my kids in to establish at some point.

New patient here! I was very pleased with my first time here. I walked in and was immediately met with kindness and comfort. Everyone there was helpful, kind, and extremely knowledgeable on what they were doing. I strongly recommend this place.

Story City Dental is truly exceptional! Dr. Chen and the entire team were wonderful from start to finish. They are warm, professional, and make every visit comfortable and stress-free. You can tell they genuinely care about their patients and go above and beyond to ensure the best experience. Highly recommended for all of your family’s dental needs!

I would give 0 stars if I could. We were switching our whole family over to Story City Dental after reading some good reviews- I wish we would have just stayed at Dentist at Somerset (and we are back there). My husband had chipped one of his front teeth & they had said getting his teeth capped would be covered by our insurance (we have the paperwork). They ran it through the system & sent him with a quote we would only have to pay the co-pay. He scheduled with them & got it done. Happy with that service, a month or so later we got our kids in & they "fixed" a few cavities for our 4 year old, within a month the filling had completely failed. We went to get 2 other opinions & the other pediatric dentists said the work done was horrid. He needed to get the tooth pulled. TRAUMATIC for him. Only after we took our son to a different dentist & Story City Dental needed to send them xrays did Story City Dental send us an invoice for $2600 for my husband's work. They had even added an additional $100 per tooth from what they quoted would be billed to insurance. They are greedy & do very inadequate work. I've now seen their replies to others negative reviews & am prepared for even more backlash but I'd hope no one else gets put in the same situation for trusting this provider. In return to your response, this procedure was completed on my husband- not our children. I was there when they did the work on our 4 year old but I should also add, we had scheduled at different times so I could be in the room (text messages confirming the appointments can be found in your system as well) instead of honoring those times, you took everyone back at the same time for your own convenience splitting 2 kids with me & our son with my husband. I had voiced this concern & was ignored by your staff. This isn't a communication issue between my husband & me, it's unprofessionalism from your practice. 3 other dentists now know the work you do on children, but you can justify it however you'd like. You're also messy with your billing to insurance because you've moved that "per tooth" amount around QUITE A BIT. Thanks for being concerned about our "money issues", you seem like a humble person. Are you allowed to state a patients diagnosis on this public forum? That must be new. Neat.
