I think Dr. Latoka needs to retire. I was in the office today and he literally gave me a verbal beating. I’ve been going to see him for my dental Needs for several years. He’s always been kind and calm And understood my anxiety About dentistry. The time before last when I was to see him he Embarrassed Krista, his dental assistant in front of me Because she did something incorrectly. After today, I can see that he is leaving on the edge building the materials to build his house in the upper peninsula and running a dental office is too much for him. He was very rude and disrespectful to me. I will not return to his office. There are many things about the office that I didn’t like. Because of the way I was treated by and his wonderful office manager, Emily and his wife Linda and himself I felt safe and confident in Dr. Latoka’s office. I understand he has issues with keeping staff. This may or may not be his fault. I never thought it was until today when I saw his temper in his blood boil at the look on his face when he explained to me that he pays $6000 for a service to call people and remind them of their visit. He said it wasn’t worth It to him to have patience that didn’t show up for their appointments. I agree people should show up for their appointment. However, I explained to him his service never called me to remind me of my appointment that a live person called me to remind me. He basically called me a liar and said the system is set up to call me… When I got to the front desk, Emily explained to me that a person always calls. I appreciate Emily today and all the other days I was in the office. She would never speak ill of Dr. Latoka or anyone in the office. I was going to write about all the things that upset me about the office and why I was there today in the first place. Instead, I will just say I wouldn’t recommend him anymore.

Straits area dental were PHENOMENAL. Actually blown away by how courteous, helpful and up-front the staff were, about costs, options and details.
Had a horrid experience last year trying to get the same dental work done, which left me with a wasted day and the belief that i could not afford to get the needed work done anywhere. But the staff at Straits were super helpful and got the work done for a fraction of the cost i would have been charged elsewhere!
Setting up the appointment was quick and easy and their reminder system for the appointment was very clean and effortless to use.
So so relieved to have worked eith this business, thank you all!

Great experience for a dentist visit. Emily at the front desk is always polite and understanding. The hygienist did a good job explaining what she was doing. She also gave tips that previous dentists did not give. She didn’t scold but politely explained the how’s & why’s. Dr Latoche was nice and again didn’t scold. He explained the why’s. Would recommend them to others in a heart beat!

I was in discomfort and sought out dental care. What I found was kind, caring and professional staff who went above and beyond to get me right in the next day. They worked with me to ensure that I was not subjected to unnecessary discomfort during treatment, and that I was safe and able to leave afterward. In all, this was the best visit I had ever experienced with any dentist, and wholeheartedly recommend their care to others in need.

Amazing place. I had a dental emergency (abscess and tooth extraction). They got me in in under 48 hours. Every other place was a month or more wait. They accept Medicaid and most other insurance. The entire staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They quickly made a bad situation much better. I can't say enough great things about Straits Area Dental. Just a fantastic place with fantastic and caring people

Straits Area Dental is a family dental office located at 7700 South US 31 Highway in Alanson, Michigan, serving patients across the northern Michigan Straits area. Meet the Doctors
The practice is led by Dr. Christopher K. LaTocha, DDS.
