I just had oral surgery through Summit to remove a bad wisdom tooth. The staff were so nice and very comforting to me. The dentist was amazing! Gentle and assuring and fast! I am so happy with this experience! I highly recommend this place

When I schedule the appointment in the beginning of the month, I made it clear that the only option they had for the entire month was a little too early and then I would need some flexibility and I was told that I would have a 15 minute window and as long as I communicated, I would be fine. I called the day off to let them know that I will be about 15 minutes late and they told me that it was too late and that they don鈥檛 have that flexibility and that I would have to be there within 5 to 10 minutes of my scheduled appointment time which was not what I was promised initially. I called to complain that I was lied to to the supervisor and she got very argumentative And then told me that she could鈥檝e helped me, but because I was upset about how I was misled that she was not willing to help me. Why would I not be upset? I had a very specific timeframe. I needed to get all of this taken care of him and was very transparent ahead of time and forfeited appointments and opportunities with other offices because I was assured they would make this work for me. Stay away from these people they would rather argue And B, right than help people

Got another tooth pulled for an implant. Dr Wimsatt explains everything he鈥檚 doing and was quick and painless. Excellent Office staff too. I will be back

Summit Oral Surgery Doctor is really good at his job. I had 2 wisdom teeth removed, my daughter had her 4 wisdom teeth removed with them. I had no swelling after the extraction, my daughter had minimal swelling for 2 days after the extraction, almost no pain days to follow. I didn鈥檛 have to take any painkillers. The only thing, is their front desk and nurses are pretty rude 馃槱 I give them five stars, I am happy with the results.

The office manager is an ill tempered, unprofessional, nasty piece of work. She was belittling a patient on the phone while my daughter and I walked in. My daughter was a ball of nerves on the verge of tears while sitting in the lobby waiting for her oral surgery. I told the office manager so. So I am completely confused as to why she treated my daughter the way she did. She accused my daughter of doing things she didn鈥檛 do, leaned over the desk and raised her voice towards my daughter who then started to cry. When I interjected she accuse me of lying. Then she tried to gaslight me. Never have I ever been treated so disrespectfully by anyone who works a front desk especially not the office manager. Beside her atrocious behavior she also didn鈥檛 contact our insurance to answer some questions she had. She told me I had to do that. She also wasn鈥檛 able to give me a quote. My insurance sent her information telling her what percentage they would cover. She still wasn鈥檛 able to give me an exact number. I鈥檓 wondering if she knows how to do simple math. I鈥檝e never been so disappointed with a medical establishment. SUMMIT ORAL only does ORAL SURGERY. My guess is most of the patients are probably nervous or stressed out while waiting. And the fact that this woman has no tact or compassion for the people she serves is irresponsible. Looking back over the reviews it seems everyone else seems to feel the same. The doctor did a good job, but the front staff was horrible. I bet they lose business because of her. I鈥檓 actually surprised she鈥檚 still employed.

Summit Oral Surgery is an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice located at 1700 E. Bogard Road, Suite B-202, in Wasilla, Alaska, serving patients from the Mat-Su Valley and surrounding communities including Palmer, Anchorage, Eagle River and Fairbanks. The practice offers a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, ranging from corrective jaw surgery and wisdom tooth removal to the diagnosis and treatment of facial pain and facial injuries. The office also performs a full range of dental implant and bone grafting procedures, including ridge augmentation, sinus lift, nerve repositioning and socket preservation, along with pre-prosthetic surgery, oral pathology and treatment of impacted canines.
For patients considering dental implants, the practice describes implants as tiny titanium posts placed into the jawbone to serve as tooth root substitutes and a strong foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth. Depending on the case, implant treatment may involve two stages or, using single stage implants, may not require a second procedure to uncover them. The doctor and staff are trained in assisting with intravenous sedation in the office. A first visit consists of a consultation explaining the diagnosis and treatment options, and occasionally surgery can be performed the same day. The office is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm and is closed on Wednesdays.
The practice is led by Dr. James Wimsatt III, DDS, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and the owner of Summit Oral Surgery. Dr. Wimsatt graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in 1987, completed an Air Force dental general practice residency, and then completed the oral and maxillofacial surgery program at the University of Florida, Jacksonville. He also completed a one year tumor and reconstructive surgery fellowship at the University of Miami and served as program director for the oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Travis Air Force Base. He retired from the Air Force as a Colonel from Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, in 2011 and has since been in private practice in Wasilla.
