Susan is the hygienist for our family. She is knowledgeable and takes the time to explain what’s she sees and answer our questions. Our kids enjoy visiting with her. Dr.Swenson makes visiting the dentist comfortable and easy. The office is helpful scheduling your next visit in a timely manner. We’ve been very happy each time we visit!

I’ve been a customer of this dental office since it was on North Euclid when Hermanson had started out. I’ve always had the best experiences and professional dental work from the dentists and hygienists. Susan is the best hygienist. Swenson taking over from Hermanson was a perfect fit for me. They truly care. Thank you for taking care of me all these years.

Dr. Swenson and team made getting a crown quick and easy. The entire process started shortly after 8 AM and was completed with the crown in place by 10:30 AM. The equipment they have to fit and make the crown in house is very precise. I can’t even tell I have a crown!

This dental office is fantastic! Susan C. is my hygienist, and she’s by far the best I’ve ever had. She treats you like family and takes the time to explain every step of the process. Dr. Swenson is also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this office!

Swenson & Cowan Dental is a family owned, locally operated general dentistry practice at 433 South Central Avenue in Pierre, South Dakota, serving Pierre and the surrounding areas. The practice describes itself as a friendly local office for all of your dental needs, welcoming patients as if they are family and working to protect your wellbeing while keeping you comfortable. Its restorative services include dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures and fillings, so patients missing one tooth, several teeth, or dealing with severely damaged or infected teeth can be evaluated and treated in one office.
At a restorative consultation, the dentists evaluate the condition of your smile, recommend the treatment needed, and walk you through the plan so you know what to expect before deciding whether it is right for you. The office states it uses cone beam imaging, digital x-rays, iTero digital scanning in place of traditional impressions, same day CEREC crowns made in office, and paperless charting, and the team reports over 30 years of experience. Payment plans are offered, after hours emergency calls are handled through the main office number, and the office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
The practice is led by Dr. Brent Swenson, DDS, and Dr. Logan Cowan, DDS. Dr. Swenson, originally from Onida, South Dakota, completed his undergraduate studies at the University of South Dakota and earned his dental degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2004, and he has practiced at the Pierre office since graduating. Dr. Cowan, originally from Highmore, South Dakota, earned her bachelor's degree in Biology at Black Hills State University and her dental degree from Creighton University School of Dentistry in May 2020, where she served as class vice president. She joined Swenson & Cowan Dental in June 2020. Both dentists share the practice's philosophy of comprehensive dentistry built on transparent, honest guidance tailored to each patient's individual oral health goals.
