Stopped in the land o lakes office to drop off a brochure for st luke compounding lab and the front desk couldn't have been nicer. Both Mary and Chris were so pleasant I wish I were a patient. I even called the lecanto office for info and Erin was super amazing. What a great team that seem to love their job. How refreshing.

Dr. Hashemian did an amazing job with my implants. Knowledgeable and patient. Everyone in the office is professional, competent, and courteous. Highly recommend for any oral surgery.

I've had an awful experience with this office; do NOT come here. I was referred here by my son's dentist, and firstly, they are unprofessional and unhygienic. They changed my appointment three times within 24 hours. They do not seem to know what they are doing as they wanted my son to go under general anesthesia on the same day of the consultation after he had eaten a couple hours before; this is NOT SAFE practice and could have had very serious consequences if I chose to let my son go through with this. They tried to charge me double what a normal wisdom tooth surgery would have costed with insurance and this office ended up charging me for the FREE consultation months after. I am much happier choosing any other place to perform surgery. Do not go here, if you are referred here you need to ask for another referral.

The doctor, staff are nice people and do their medical jobs well. BUT when it comes to estimates of what your insurance will pay and your out of pocket expenses, they do not do any diligence in actually verifying your coverage. So it's merely a guess! They stated they verified my coverage and gave me a certain percentage to pay when they didn't verify they are "in-network", so the amounts they quoted me were completely wrong and instead of just paying the $780 I was told I would owe, I owe the entire $2,400 bill. When I tried to explain that they basically screwed me over royally, they told me "benefits are never guaranteed". Well of course they are not guaranteed when you're 100% not a doctor that's covered under my plan. Call your insurance and verify directly before letting them work on you!!

About The Dentofacial & Cosmetic Surgery Institute

Dentofacial & Cosmetic Surgery Institute is an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice with an office at 2651 Narnia Way, Suite 101 in Land O' Lakes, Florida, one of four locations the practice operates in West Central Florida alongside Spring Hill, Lecanto, and Clearwater. The practice describes itself as a full-scope oral surgery office, treating a wide range of oral and maxillofacial diseases, disorders, and injuries. Services listed on the practice's website include dental implant surgery, full arch (All-on-X) full mouth implants, zygomatic and pterygoid implants for patients with limited jawbone, implant-supported dentures, bone grafting, wisdom teeth and other tooth extractions, corrective jaw surgery, sleep apnea treatment, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) treatment, platelet-rich plasma treatment, and emergency and facial trauma care. Cosmetic facial procedures such as facelifts, lip and chin augmentation, and ear surgery are also offered.

For patients considering dental implants, the practice says its team is especially passionate about implant placement in Land O' Lakes because of how implants help patients eat, speak, and laugh with confidence again. Its website explains that full arch protocols can allow patients to be fitted with temporary new teeth on the same day as surgery, and that All-on-4 to 6 or All-on-X techniques place implants in areas of healthiest bone, often avoiding bone grafting. At a first visit, the practice reviews a complete medical history, performs an exam, and uses a cone beam computed tomography scanner to capture three-dimensional views of the jaws, teeth, and facial bones before discussing treatment and anesthesia options, which include office-based intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. The practice also provides information on insurance and financing for implant care.

Meet the Doctors

The practice's surgeon is Dr. Michael M. Hashemian, DMD, MD, FAAOMS, FACOMS, a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who holds both a dental degree and a medical degree. According to the practice's website, he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Florida in 1994, his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 1997, and completed a general surgery internship and a six-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville before entering private practice in 2000. The site describes his special interest in dental implants, including training in computer-guided implant placement, teeth-in-a-day full arch treatment, and zygomatic implants for patients without sufficient jawbone, as well as reconstructive and orthognathic surgery, facial plastic surgery, and hospital-based treatment of facial trauma.
