I can鈥檛 express my gratitude enough for Tom and his entire team. Growing up in Brazil I had a bad experience going into a dentist office and it makes everything after that very hard. Tom, helped me not just with my teeth, but my child trauma. He and the entire team was very supportive in every way. I just grateful to be able to have their assistance l. I highly recommend, if someone reading this now and thinking about. I would say go, in my gym I recommend for everyone.

Everyone there at the Dentist Office were very friendly. From when I first walked into the front door the receptionist greeted me was very friendly and was helpful with me filling out the paperwork. The dental assistant was also very friendly and explained everything that was going to be done. The X-rays were very helpful in determining my dental procedure. The Dentist Dr. Van De Walle was very friendly and talkative explained everything. He has a good side manner. I left there very satisfied and happy.

As someone with a lot of dental anxiety, I cannot say enough good things about this office. From the welcoming front desk to Shawna, the dental assistant, and Dr. Van De Walle, every interaction is filled with compassion and care. Shawna has a calming presence that immediately puts you at ease, and Dr. Van De Walle takes the time to listen, explain, and truly care about your comfort. This is an amazing group of people who have completely changed my experience with dental care.

The BEST dentist I鈥檝e ever been to! From the staff at the front desk to the Dental Hygienist. It feels like a family environment and they do some of the best work. My teeth had many things wrong with it and they made a plan for me and now I can鈥檛 stop smiling. 馃榿 My kids used to hate going to the dentist from previous experiences now they ask to go all the time because of the welcoming and kid friendly atmosphere for the kids. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

About Van De Walle Family Dentistry
Van De Walle Family Dentistry is a comprehensive family dental practice at 111 Willow Springs Drive in San Marcos, Texas, serving patients of all ages. Dr. Tom Van De Walle opened the office in 2005 and has served the San Marcos community since then, later joined by Dr. Trenton Tompkins. For patients missing teeth, the practice offers dental implants as a safe, durable replacement that functions and looks like natural teeth. Implants can be paired with custom replacement crowns for single or multiple teeth, or used to anchor implant-supported dentures, including removable options that are far more secure than conventional dentures. The doctors evaluate bone support, gum health, sinus and nerve location, and overall health before recommending a plan, and offer bone grafting when additional support is needed.
Beyond implants, the practice provides preventive care such as cleanings, exams, and oral cancer screenings, along with children's dentistry, cosmetic services like teeth whitening and porcelain veneers, crowns, bridges, dentures, root canal therapy, periodontal treatment, extractions, Invisalign, sleep apnea treatment, jaw joint therapy, and sedation dentistry. The office accepts most major dental plans and offers flexible payment options as well as an in-house dental plan for patients without insurance. The team describes its approach as patient-centered, with treatment plans built around each person's needs, goals, and priorities. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 5pm.
Meet the Doctors
The practice is led by Dr. Tom Van De Walle and Dr. Trenton Tompkins. Dr. Van De Walle, a Hondo, Texas native, earned a civil engineering degree from Texas A&M University and worked as an engineer for three years before attending the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Dentistry, graduating Cum Laude in 2004. He opened Van De Walle Family Dentistry in San Marcos the following year. Dr. Tompkins, originally from Cypress, Texas, also attended Texas A&M and first earned a master's degree and worked as a Physician Assistant in family medicine and emergency care in San Marcos before completing dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he received the Delta Dental Student Leadership Award and the Dr. Robert Dale Award for compassionate patient care. He then completed a one-year residency there focused on intravenous and oral sedation, implant placement, and bone grafting.
