If you are needing an oral surgeon I cannot recommend Dr. Colgan and his staff enough. I needed a dental implant and was referred to Dr. Colgan by my dentist. Having an implant put in is not a quick process!! Dr. Colgan explained everything step-by-step in my initial consultation, the pricing was disclosed upfront with total amounts due for each stage and when. At no point did I have an unexpected charge or cost throughout the whole procedure, nor did I have a question unanswered. I was also pleasantly surprised at how little discomfort I felt after each step. The first surgery was the most intense recovery, however Advil/Tylenol were all I needed after the first 24 hours. My appointments were all adhered to, unless earlier availability came up which they called to offer me. The whole staff is incredible as well. Everyone is friendly, understanding, and happy to answer questions just like Dr. Colgan. If you need dental surgery, this is the place you want to go!

I’m honestly a little confused at all these great reviews complementing the staff. I Had my wisdom teeth removed, and the procedure itself went great and the sites are healing nicely. However, the office staff themselves seem either careless or uninformed, they rescheduled my surgery 3 times without reason, failed to mention I received stitches when asked, and more than once stated incorrect information about which teeth were removed when my chart and xrays were right in front of them. I’d expect some professionalism from medical staff. Perhaps this is a one-off experience, but be prepared to ask questions more than once to ensure you are being told the right thing.

Dr Colgan & his staff were extremely professional! I had to get two wisdom teeth removed, considering this was my first ever surgery; I was very nervous about the surgery & his staff was very kind, made me feel comfortable & eased the anxiety. I had absolutely zero pain after the surgery.
I am so incredibly thankful for Dr Colgan & his staff. Truly an amazing team! Thank you!!! ☺️

Incredibly impressed with Dr. Colgan, his entire staff, and the overall experience. One a 1-10 scale - they scored 100! My son was at college in NC. He needed immediate extraction of 4 wisdom teeth. I called Dr. Colgan's office, they said bring him in tomorrow (Wednesday) for a consult, and if Dr. Colgan sees fit, he'll make time for surgery the following day. That's exactly what happened. My son came home on Wednesday. Saw Dr. Colgan that day, and then on Thursday he had the procedure.
Sunday morning he flew back to school.
On top of everything else, Dr. Colgan took his time to make us comfortable - he gave us the time we needed. We never felt rushed. He told us exactly what he was going to do. And most importantly, Calvin was able to head back to college 3 days after the procedure - incredible. I would endorse and use Dr. Colgan again without reservation.

I recently completed a dental implant procedure with Dr. Colgan, and I couldn’t be more impressed with him and his entire team. 20 years ago, I had a root canal and crown placed on a lower molar, but when the crown broke off, I decided to pursue an implant rather than a bridge.
From the moment I walked into Dr. Colgan’s office, the professionalism and care were evident. Dental surgery can naturally feel a bit daunting, but Dr. Colgan and his staff took the time to explain every aspect of the procedure. They provided a clear timeline for each step and the follow-up visits I’d need. Their thorough explanations ensured that my wife and I fully understood everything, which put us completely at ease.
The procedure itself went smoothly, and their follow-up care was outstanding. Today, I was officially released back to my regular and excellent dentist, Dr. Plower, who will complete the final step by placing my new tooth on the implant.
Dr Colgan’s expertise, professionalism, and compassion are second to none. I highly recommend him to anyone in need of dental implants or oral surgery—he and the team made the experience feel seamless and stress-free.

Meet the Doctors
Vero Beach Surgical Arts is led by Dr. J. Andrew Colgan, D.D.S., a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He received his dental degree from the University of Maryland and completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Dr. Colgan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American Society of Implant and Reconstructive Dentistry. According to the practice, he has been in practice for over 20 years with a focus on oral surgery and dental implant placement, lectures nationally on surgical procedures he developed, and created the Hybrid Express Platinum full arch treatment system.
