They must have hired new staff since the last review from 2018(?). Everyone (medical and office staff) there was extremely kind, helpful, and comforting. I was in for a single wisdom tooth extraction so nothing super invasive. The extraction was quick and uncomplicated (from my point-of-view) - I hadn't even realized Dr. Labart had finished yoinkin' out my tooth. Crazy...
While I hope today, the day of my extraction, doesn't become my "groundhog's day" and I have to relive this experience again indefinitely, I might be back to get my other 3 wisdom teeth out and I look forward to it being another smooth operation.

Wakarusa Oral Surgery is the Lawrence, Kansas office of Shawnee Oral Surgery & Wakarusa Oral Surgery, located at 4901 Legends Drive. The practice is an oral and maxillofacial surgery office led by Justin W. Labart, DDS, MD, and it performs a full range of dental implant and bone grafting procedures, including implant placement, All-on-4 implant supported dentures, ridge augmentation, sinus lift, and socket preservation. Dr. Labart is able to place single stage implants, and the office provides 3D imaging and offers care under intravenous sedation with staff trained to assist with anesthesia.
Beyond implants, the practice offers wisdom teeth removal, tooth extractions, corrective jaw surgery, pre-prosthetic surgery, oral pathology, exposure of impacted teeth, platelet rich plasma, and treatment of facial trauma, facial pain, and jaw joint (TMJ) disorders. Meet the Doctors
Justin W. Labart, DDS, MD, is the oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Wakarusa Oral Surgery and Shawnee Oral Surgery. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, he has lived in the Kansas City area for more than 20 years. He earned both his Doctor of Dental Surgery and his medical degree with honors from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, then completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Truman Medical Center and its affiliated hospitals, including St. Luke's and Children's Mercy, along with a one-year residency in general surgery. His training covers dental implants, removal of impacted teeth, bone grafting, oral and maxillofacial pathology, facial trauma, temporomandibular joint disorders, and corrective and reconstructive jaw surgery. He has extensive training in general anesthesia and provides most procedures under sedation in the office. Dr. Labart is a member of the American Dental Association, the Kansas Dental Association, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Kansas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
